  1. When the customer reports vehicle malfunction, check the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) indication, AT warning indication, and diagnostic trouble code (DTC), then diagnose the malfunction according to (Scheme 497). If a DTC exists, diagnose the applicable DTC inspection. (See «DTC TABLE [JA5A-EL]».) If a DTC does not exist and the MIL and AT warning lights do not illuminate, diagnose the applicable symptom troubleshooting.   1. Perform necessary vehicle preparation and visual inspection.
  2. Connect the WDS or equivalent to the vehicle DLC-2 16-pin connector located on the left side of the center console.
  3. Retrieve DTCs using the WDS or equivalent.
