BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

CAUTIONWhen replacing the BCM, the configuration procedure must be performed before removing the BCM. Replacing the BCM without performing the configuration procedure will result in system malfunction.

  1. Perform the BCM configuration when replacing it. (See «BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATION»(ref-579382-S39874352482013100700000).)
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5]»(ref-579330-S31782573982013100700000).) (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]»(ref-579332-S32330103212013100700000).)
  3. Remove the following parts: Front scuff plate (LH) (See «FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579335-S29057485522013100700000).) Front side trim (LH) (See «FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579335-S35549025382013100700000).) Upper panel (See «UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579335-S17519281862013100700000).) Selector lever knob (See «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579347-S14598286322013100700000).)   4. Set the hood release lever out of the way. (See «HOOD LATCH AND RELEASE LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579383-S12047271642013100700000).)
  5. Remove the lower panel. (driver-side) (See «LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-579335-S33322841732013100700000).)
  6. Remove the nut shown in the figure. (Scheme 9): Identifying BCM Nut With Torque Specifications
  7. Pry off the lock device of the clip while pressing the tab in the position shown in the figure. (Scheme 10): Prying Off Lock Device Of Clip
  8. Rotate the clip in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure. (Scheme 11): Rotating Clip
  9. Remove the clip by pulling it in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure. (Scheme 12): Removing Clip
  10. Disconnect the connector shown in the figure. (Scheme 13): Identifying BCM Connector
  11. While pressing the tab shown in the figure, pull the bracket in the direction of the arrow and remove it. (Scheme 14): Pressing Tab
  12. Remove the BCM.
  13. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  7. Remove the nuts shown in the figure. (Scheme 15): Identifying BCM Nuts With Torque Specification
  8. Pry off the lock device of the clip while pressing the tab in the position shown in the figure. (Scheme 16): Prying Off Lock Device Of Clip
  9. Rotate the clip in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure. (Scheme 17): Rotating Clip
  10. Remove the clip by pulling it in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure. (Scheme 18): Removing Clip
  11. Disconnect the connector shown in the figure. (Scheme 19): Identifying BCM Connector
  12. While pressing the tab shown in the figure, pull the bracket in the direction of the arrow and remove it. (Scheme 20): Pressing Tab
  13. Remove the BCM.
  14. Install in the reverse order of removal.
