Note. The Smart Junction Box (SJB) is also known as the Generic Electronic Module (GEM).
Note. Some of these modules utilize a 5-character DTC followed by a 2-character failure-type code. The failure-type code provides information about specific fault conditions such as opens, or shorts to ground. Continuous memory DTCs have an additional 2-character DTC status code suffix to assist in determining DTC history.

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE
Inspection and Verification
- Verify the customer concern.
- Visually inspect for obvious signs of electrical damage. VISUAL INSPECTION TABLE Electrical Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuse(s): Cable pro fuse element 33 (20A) Smart Junction Box (SJB) fuse 5 (10A) Wiring, terminals or connectors SJB
- If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
- If the cause is not visually evident, connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC). NOTE: Make sure to use the latest scan tool software release.
- If the scan tool does not communicate with the VCM : Check the VCM connection to the vehicle. Check the scan tool connection to the VCM . Refer to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-356606) , No Power To The Scan Tool, to diagnose no power to the scan tool. NOTE: The Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) LED prove-out confirms power and ground from the DLC are provided to the VCM .
- If the scan tool does not communicate with the vehicle: Verify the ignition is ON. Verify the scan tool operation with a known good vehicle. Refer to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-356606) to diagnose no response from the PCM.
- Carry out the network test. If the scan tool responds with no communication for one or more modules, refer to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-356606) . If the network test passes, retrieve and record the continuous memory DTCs.
- Clear the continuous DTCs and carry out the self-test diagnostics for the SJB .
- If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to «DTC TABLES»(ref-356607-S01172453882010022600000) . For all other DTCs, refer to «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) TABLE»(ref-356607-S04122493862010022600000) .
- If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to «SYMPTOM TABLE»(ref-356607-S40816808462010022600000) .

- A1 REVIEW THE DTCs Review the DTCs from the SJB self-test. Is only DTC B106F present? Result/Action to Take Yes : INSTALL a new SJB . REFER to «SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB)»(ref-356607-S33139311102010022600000) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : CORRECT any DTCs present other than DTC B106E (DTC B106F may also be present). TEST the system for normal operation. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was caused by a fault in one of the output circuits, which is no longer present.

- B1 CHECK FOR DTC B1317, B1676 OR P0563 SET IN OTHER MODULES Ignition ON. Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: (All Modules) Self-Test. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC B1317, B1676 or P0563 (PCM) set in more than one module? Result/Action to Take Yes : REFER to «CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-356594) to diagnose an overcharging condition. No : GO to B2 .
- B2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories. Start and run the engine at approximately 2,000 rpm for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage. Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher? Yes : REFER to «CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-356594) to diagnose an overcharging condition. No : GO to B3 .
- B3 RECHECK FOR DTC B1317 Turn the engine off. Ignition ON. Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SJB Self-Test. Clear the continuous memory DTCs. Carry out the SJB self-test. Is DTC B1317 present? Yes : INSTALL a new SJB . REFER to «SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB)»(ref-356607-S33139311102010022600000) . TEST the system for normal operation. - C2 CHECK FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DTCs IN THE PCM Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: PCM Self-Test. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from the PCM. Is DTC P0620, P0625, P0626 or P065B set in the PCM? Yes : REFER to «CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-356594) . No : GO to C3 .
- C3 CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE Ignition OFF. Check the battery condition and verify the battery is fully charged. Refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-356626) . Is the battery OK and fully charged? Yes : GO to C4 . No : REFER to «CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-356594) .
- C4 CHECK THE SJB VOLTAGE SUPPLY Measure and record the voltage at the battery. Disconnect: SJB C2280g. Ignition ON. Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280g-1, circuit SDC02 (RD), harness side and ground. Is the voltage within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage? Yes : GO to C5 . No : REPAIR the circuit for high resistance. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- C5 CHECK THE SJB GROUND CIRCUIT Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable. Disconnect: SJB C2280d. Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280d-7, C2280d-8, C2280d-12 or C2280d-24, circuit GD133 (BK), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : CONNECT the negative battery cable. GO to C6 . No : REPAIR the circuit for high resistance. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C6 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION Disconnect all the SJB connectors. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : INSTALL a new SJB . REFER to «SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB)»(ref-356607-S33139311102010022600000) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.

- D4 RECHECK THE SJB DTCs NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or PMI may not have been carried out. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the SJB self-test. Is DTC U0155 still present? Yes : GO to D5 . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or intermittent fault condition.
- D5 CHECK FOR DTC U0155 IN OTHER MODULES NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during PMI or PMI may not have been carried out. - G3 CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE Ignition OFF. Check the battery condition and verify the battery is fully charged. Refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-356626) . Is the battery OK and fully charged? Yes : GO to G4 . No : REFER to «CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-356594) .
- G4 CHECK THE DSM VOLTAGE SUPPLY Measure and record the voltage at the battery. Disconnect: DSM C341b. Ignition ON. Measure the voltage between the DSM C341b-1, circuit CBX03 (BU/RD), harness side and ground. Is the voltage within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage? Yes : GO to G5 . No : REPAIR the circuit for high resistance. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.
- G5 CHECK THE DSM GROUND CIRCUIT Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable. Measure the resistance between the DSM C341b-24, circuit GD905 (BK/GN), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : CONNECT the negative battery cable. GO to G6 . No : REPAIR the circuit for high resistance. CONNECT the negative battery cable. TEST the system for normal operation.
- G6 CHECK FOR CORRECT DSM OPERATION Disconnect all the DSM connectors. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect all the DSM connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : INSTALL a new DSM . REFER to «DRIVER SEAT MODULE (DSM)»(ref-356607-S40122276112010022600000) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.

TEST the system for normal operation. No : CORRECT any DTCs present other than DTC B106E (DTC B106F may also be present). - J2 CARRY OUT THE DDM SELF-TEST Carry out the DDM self-test. Is only DTC B106F present? Yes : INSTALL a new DDM . REFER to «DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM)»(ref-356607-S26484624932010022600000) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was caused by a fault in one of the output circuits, which is no longer present.

- K1 CHECK FOR DTC B1317, B1676 OR P0563 SET IN OTHER MODULES Ignition ON. Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: (All Modules) Self-Test. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC B1317, B1676 or P0563 (PCM) set in more than one module? Result/Action to Take Yes : REFER to «CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-356594) to diagnose an overcharging condition. No : GO to K2 .
- K2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories. Start and run the engine at approximately 2,000 rpm for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage. Does the battery voltage rise to 15 volts or higher? Yes : REFER to «CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-356594) to diagnose an overcharging condition. No : GO to K3 .
- K3 RECHECK FOR DTC B1317 Turn the engine off. Ignition ON. Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: DDM Self-Test. Clear the continuous memory DTCs. Carry out the DDM self-test. Is DTC B1317 present? Yes : INSTALL a new DDM . REFER to «DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM)»(ref-356607-S26484624932010022600000) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.

Result/Action to Take Yes : GO to L2 . No : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.

- P2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK Ignition ON. Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test. Carry out the network test. Does the IPC pass the network test? Yes : GO to P3 . No : REFER to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-356606) .
- P3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE SELF-TEST Check for recorded RFA module DTCs from the self-test. Is DTC U3000:49 or DTC U3003:62 recorded? Yes : For DTC U3000:49, REFER to «DTC TABLES»(ref-356607-S00564826532010022600000) . For DTC U3003:62, REFER to «ANTI-THEFT - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS)»(ref-356662) . No : GO to P4 .
- P4 RECHECK THE RFA MODULE DTCs NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the PMI may not have been carried out. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the RFA module self-test. Is DTC U0155:87 still present? Yes : GO to P5 . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or intermittent fault condition.
- P5 CHECK FOR DTC U0155/U0155:00/U0155:87 IN OTHER MODULES NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out. Clear all DTCs. Ignition OFF. Ignition ON. Wait 10 seconds. Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC U0155/U0155:00/U0155:87 set in other modules? Yes : INSTALL a new IPC . REFER to «INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES»(ref-356611) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : INSTALL a new RFA module. REFER to «REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR (RFA) MODULE»(ref-356607-S21121734132010022600000) . RESET the parameters in both the RFA module and the PCM. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset - Intelligent Access (IA) in «ANTI-THEFT - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS)»(ref-356662) . TEST the system for normal operation.
