Removal & Installation: Removal & Installation Lincoln Continental IX

  1. Drain the engine cooling system.
  2. Remove the degas bottle.
  3. Loosen pulley bolts. (Scheme 21)
  4. Remove the drive belt.
  5. Remove the water pump pulley.
  6. Remove the generator.
  7. Remove water pump bolts. (Scheme 22)and (Scheme 23).
  8. Remove the water pump.

Installation

Note. The sealing surfaces must be clean and dry prior to installation of the water pump.

  1. Clean the sealing surfaces, install a new O-ring seal and lubricate with a non-petroleum based lubricant. (Scheme 24)
  2. Position the water pump. Install the bolts. Tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-1338-S15062982612000031300000).
  3. Install the generator.
  4. Position the water pump pulley. Install the bolts. Tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-1338-S15062982612000031300000).
  5. Install the drive belt.
  6. Install the degas bottle.
  7. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
