Scheme 208: CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or higher with all the accessories switched off [B].
  7. Idle the engine for 5 minutes or more [C]. HINT: In order to keep the idling stable, turn off the A/C and all other electric loads and do not perform any shift operations.
  8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending.
  9. Read the pending DTCs [D]. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
  11. Input the DTC: P0505.
  12. Check the DTC judgment result. Techstream Display Description NORMAL DTC judgment completed System normal ABNORMAL DTC judgment completed System abnormal INCOMPLETE DTC judgment not completed Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions N/A Unable to perform DTC judgment Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit HINT: If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal. If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction. If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform steps [E] and [F].
  13. Accelerate the vehicle to 6.25 mph (10 km/h) or more, and then idle the engine for 20 seconds or more [E].
  14. Repeat step [E] 5 times.
  15. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending.
  16. Read the pending DTCs [F]. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  17. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
  18. Input the DTC: P0505.
  19. Check the DTC judgment result. Techstream Display Description NORMAL DTC judgment completed System normal ABNORMAL DTC judgment completed System abnormal INCOMPLETE DTC judgment not completed Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions N/A Unable to perform DTC judgment Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit HINT: If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.   20. If the judgment result is INCOMPLETE or N/A and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2012 - 07/2012]»(ref-602560-S42705218842014030500000) . HINT: If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0505) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes. Read the DTCs. Result Result Proceed to DTC P0505 is output A DTC P0505 and other DTCs are output B HINT: If any DTCs other than P0505 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first. B --> See step 6 A: Go to next step
  2. CHECK PCV HOSE CONNECTIONS Check the PCV hose connections. Refer to «COMPONENTS [03/2012 - ]»(ref-602694-S39439051002014030500000) . OK PCV hose is connected correctly and is not damaged. NG --> See step 7 OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK INTAKE SYSTEM Check the intake system for vacuum leaks. Refer to «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [03/2012 - ]»(ref-602708-S02600538682014030500000) . OK No leaks in intake system. NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE INTAKE SYSTEM OK: Go to next step
  4. INSPECT THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY (THROTTLE VALVE) Check for contamination between the throttle valve and housing, and check that the throttle valve moves smoothly. OK Throttle valve is not contaminated with foreign objects and moves smoothly. NG --> See step 8 OK: Go to next step
  5. CONFIRM WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Clear the DTCs. Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending. Read the pending DTCs. RESULT Result Proceed to DTC P0505 is output A DTC is not output B B --> END A --> See step 9

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or higher with all the accessories switched off [B].
  7. Idle the engine for 5 minutes or more [C]. HINT: In order to keep the idling stable, turn off the A/C and all other electric loads and do not perform any shift operations.
  8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending.
  9. Read the pending DTCs [D]. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

  4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Coolant Temp.
  7. Check that "Coolant Temp" in the Data List is within the range of -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F).
  8. Start the engine and warm it up until the coolant temperature is the same as the coolant temperature in the freeze frame data.
  9. Idle the engine for 1 minute or more [B].
  10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending.
  11. Read the pending DTC [C]. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  12. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
  13. Input the DTC: P050A.
  14. Check the DTC judgment result. Techstream Display Description NORMAL DTC judgment completed System normal ABNORMAL DTC judgment completed System abnormal INCOMPLETE DTC judgment not completed Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions N/A Unable to perform DTC judgment Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit HINT: If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.   1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P050A) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes. Read the DTCs. Result Result Proceed to DTC P050A is output A DTC P050A and other DTCs are output B HINT: If any DTCs other than P050A are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first. B --> See step 21 A: Go to next step
  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL TRIM) HINT: Calculate the total fuel trim values to check the characteristic deviation of the mass air flow meter sub-assembly. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Start the engine. Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Short FT #1, Long FT #1, Short FT #2 and Long FT #2. Read the values displayed on the Techstream while the engine is idling. The total of the Short FT #1 and Long FT #1 values, and the Short FT #2 and Long FT #2 values to obtain the total fuel trim. Result The total of Short FT #1 and Long FT #1 values, and the total of Short FT #2 and Long FT #2 values is between -20% and 20%. NG --> See step 5 OK: Go to next step
  3. INSPECT THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY Check for deposits around the throttle valve and check the throttle valve condition. OK No deposits around throttle valve and throttle valve moves smoothly. Result Result Proceed to NG A OK B B --> See step 14 A: Go to next step
  4. REPAIR OR REPLACE THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY Repair or replace the throttle with motor body assembly. Refer to «REMOVAL [03/2012 - 07/2012]»(ref-602706-S02302826662014030500000) . NEXT --> See step 14
  5. CHECK PCV SYSTEM Check the PCV hose connections. Refer to «COMPONENTS [03/2012 - ]»(ref-602694-S39439051002014030500000) . OK PCV hose is connected correctly and is not damaged. NG --> See step 10 OK: Go to next step

Scheme 214: CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
  4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on [A].
  6. Wait 5 seconds.
  7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending.
  8. Read the pending DTCs [B]. HINT: If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
  10. Input the DTC: P0724.
  11. Check the DTC judgment result. Techstream Display Description NORMAL DTC judgment completed System normal ABNORMAL DTC judgment completed System abnormal INCOMPLETE DTC judgment not completed Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions N/A Unable to perform DTC judgment Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit HINT: If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.   13. Accelerate the vehicle to 19 mph (30 km/h) or more, and then depress the brake pedal and decelerate the vehicle to 1.8 mph (3 km/h) or less [D]. Repeat step [D] 5 times. WARNING: When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.
  14. Check the DTC judgment result [E].
  15. If the judgment result is INCOMPLETE or N/A and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2012 - 07/2012]»(ref-602560-S42705218842014030500000) . HINT: If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning. If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.
  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STOP LIGHT SWITCH) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Stop Light Switch. Read the value displayed on the Techstream when the brake pedal is depressed and released.
