  1. PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. If the battery has been disconnected, it is necessary to re-initialize the system. Move the vehicle to an area with good GPS reception (open view of the sky, GPS icon shown on map screen), turn ACC On, and wait several minutes while the system acquires time and location data and activates Destination Assist and eDestination services. Then, cycle ACC Off to On again to initialize XM Sports and XM Stocks services (only available if XM Radio is active and vehicle is equipped for Lexus Enform). Additionally, XM Sports and XM Stocks data services can take several minutes to update after each ACC On. When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following system after the terminal is reconnected.   2. PRECAUTIONS FOR DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY An HDD is built into the display and navigation module display to store map data etc. which will be used for the navigation system. Therefore, care must be taken for the following points when handling: Do not apply any vibration or shock to the display and navigation module display. NOTE: Do not drop or subject the display and navigation module display to severe impacts. Do not use the display and navigation module display if it has been dropped or subjected to a severe impact. Do not remove the display and navigation module display if there is a risk that condensation may occur. NOTE: If the temperature of the display and navigation module display changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the display and navigation module display is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity. Take measures to prevent static electricity. NOTE: Touching the terminals of a connector can cause static electricity to be transmitted to the internal circuits. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Keep the display and navigation module display away from magnets or magnetized items. NOTE: Keep the display and navigation module display away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.
  3. PRECAUTIONS FOR HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD) The map data for the navigation system is stored on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Make sure to follow the following instructions when replacing the HDD: NOTE: Data downloaded by the customer may be stored on the HDD. This data will be lost when the HDD is replaced. Make sure to warn the customer that their data will be lost obtain their consent prior to replacing the HDD. The HDD must only be replaced with a new one. Do not attempt to install a used HDD from another vehicle. NOTE: The display and navigation module display can recognize only a new HDD. Do not touch the HDD cover. NOTE: When removing or installing the HDD, only hold it by the areas shown in the illustration. Do not apply any vibration or shock to the HDD. NOTE: Do not drop or allow anything to strike the HDD. Never use an HDD that has been dropped or struck. Do not remove the HDD if there is a risk that condensation may occur. NOTE: If the temperature of the HDD changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the display and navigation module display is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. DESCRIPTION LEXUS ENFORM is a service*1 that allows the vehicle to receive information from the XM radio satellite and the call center and links the information to the navigation system. LEXUS ENFORM permits the driver to use the received information, such as a destination information, weather information, sports news and stock information on the navigation system multi display. The equipment for receiving this service is installed as standard.*2 LEXUS ENFORM provides following services: Destination Assist, eDestination, Lexus Insider, XM NavTraffic, XM NavWeather, XM Stocks, XM Sports, Maintenance Reminder and Safety Connect system. For details about Safety Connect system. Refer to «SYSTEM DESCRIPTION»(ref-400665-S15029371872011051800000) . LEXUS ENFORM consists mainly of a LEXUS ENFORM applicable navigation system (display and navigation module display (navigation ECU)), Telematics Data Communication Module (DCM (telematics transceiver)), satellite radio antenna, telephone antenna, navigation antenna (for safety connect) and telephone microphone assembly. HINT: *1: LEXUS ENFORM is a service available in the continental U.S., excluding Alaska and Hawaii. In addition, Canada, Mexico and unincorporated territories of the U.S. such as Puerto Rico are not included in the service area. *2: The LEXUS ENFORM service requires a Safety Connect subscription. XM NavTraffic and XM NavWeather both require separate subscriptions to receive their services. XM Sports and XM Stocks are included with the XM Radio subscription.
  2. SYSTEM FUNCTION FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS Component Outline Telephone Microphone Assembly The user's voice is received by the microphone module. DCM (Telematics Transceiver) Receives content information. Connects to the call center when the destination assist service or eDestination service is active. Sends the call center advisor's voice to the front speakers. Sends the vehicle mileage information signal to the call center. Display and navigation module display (navigation ECU) Receives the XM satellite radio information signals from the XM tuner built into the radio receiver (distributed from the broadcast such as content information, stock price information, sports related news and weather information). Receives the microphone voice signal. Navigation Antenna Assembly Receives the signals from the GPS satellites and transmits these signals to the display and navigation module display (navigation ECU). Telephone and GPS Antenna Assembly SDARS (Satellite Radio Antenna) Receives the XM satellites radio signals. Telephone Antenna This antenna is for a mobile phone. It is compatible with the transmission and reception of frequency bands of mobile phones. Transmits signals from the DCM (telematics transceiver) and receives signals from the call center. GPS Antenna Receives the signals from the GPS satellites and transmits these signals to the DCM (Telematics Transceiver). Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly Sends the call center advisor's voice to the front speaker. Remote Touch Transmits the signals from its switch knob, seesaw switch, and various switches to the display and navigation module display (navigation ECU). Multi Display Assembly Receives the signals from the display and navigation module display (navigation ECU) and displays these signals. Front Speaker Outputs the call center advisor's voice. Combination Meter Assembly Sends the vehicle speed signal to the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) and to the display and navigation module display (navigation ECU).
  3. SERVICES FUNCTION Service Function Destination Assist Downloads the user's desired destination information in the navigation system after the call center is told the destination. Stores the information downloaded in the navigation system so the information can be reused as required. Destination Assist is an in-vehicle service that allows subscribers to request directions to any location. Subscribers are connected to an agent through the Destination Assist soft key and may ask the agent to download the location of any destination to the navigation system in the vehicle. Agents are able to locate specific points of interest (POI's) by search terms, locate specific addresses, or provide Zagat-rated restaurants as Premium POI's. Agents are able to search for POI's using the distance from the vehicle, from a city, or from another POI. The vehicle device can store up to 5 POI's at a time, which can be added to the device queue as the first or last entry, or as a replacement for all entries. eDestination Allows the user to edit the destination information stored in the call center database through the Lexus.com owners web site using a personal computer. The edited information can be wirelessly downloaded from the call center database. The destination information can be separated into a maximum of 20 folders. Each folder can save up to 10 items. Lexus Insider Receives audio data content such as audio messages and articles, and allows the user to display, play and delete them on the vehicle audio system. Receives non user-specific content distributed via XM satellite radio and receives any user-specific content via the DCM (telematics transceiver). XM NavTraffic Displays traffic congestion information using icons, arrows and indicators on the navigation map according to the traffic information received via the XM satellite radio. XM NavWeather Displays weather information received via the XM satellite radio. Gives weather warnings issued within approx. a 25 km (15.5 mile) radius of the vehicle location through voice and graphics. Displays weather forecasts for 3 days when a city icon on the map is pressed or when the city name is selected from the list on the screen. XM Stocks Displays stock price information received via the XM satellite radio. Displays up to 10 user registered stock symbols and their price information. XM Sports Displays sports related news received via the XM satellite radio. Allows the user to register up to 5 teams. Maintenance Reminder Determines the maintenance timing recommended by dealers according to the vehicle mileage information signal that is sent from the DCM (telematics transceiver).

DESCRIPTION

This circuit is used to send and receive signals between the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) and display and navigation module display.
