  1. PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. If the cable has been disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal, it is necessary to initialize the system. To initialize the system, perform the following procedures: Move the vehicle to an open area with good GPS reception. HINT: The GPS icon is displayed on the map screen when the reception is good. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and then wait several minutes while the system acquires time and location data and activates Destination Assist and Destination. Turn the engine switch off and then on (IG) again to initialize XM Sports and XM Stocks services. HINT: XM Sports and XM Stocks services are only available if XM Radio is active and the vehicle is equipped with LEXUS ENFORM. XM Sports and XM Stocks services may take several minutes to update.
  2. PRECAUTIONS FOR MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY An HDD is built into the multi-media module receiver assembly to store map data etc. which will be used for the navigation system. Therefore, care must be taken for the following points when handling: Do not apply any vibration or shock to the multi-media module receiver assembly. NOTE: Do not drop or subject the multi-media module receiver assembly to severe impacts. Do not use the multi-media module receiver assembly if it has been dropped or subjected to a severe impact. Do not remove the multi-media module receiver assembly if there is a risk that condensation may occur. NOTE: If the temperature of the multi-media module receiver assembly changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the multi-media module receiver assembly is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity. Take measures to prevent static electricity. NOTE: Touching the terminals of a connector can cause static electricity to be transmitted to the internal circuits. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Keep the multi-media module receiver assembly away from magnets or magnetized items. NOTE: Keep the multi-media module receiver assembly away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.
  3. PRECAUTIONS FOR HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD) The map data for the navigation system is stored on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Make sure to follow the following instructions when replacing the HDD: NOTE: Data downloaded by the customer may be stored on the HDD. This data will be lost when the HDD is replaced. Make sure to warn the customer that their data will be lost and obtain their consent prior to replacing the HDD. The HDD must only be replaced with a new one. Do not attempt to install a used HDD from another vehicle. NOTE: The multi-media module receiver assembly can recognize only a new HDD. Do not touch the HDD cover. NOTE: When removing or installing the HDD, only hold it by the areas shown in the illustration. Do not apply any vibration or shock to the HDD. NOTE: Do not drop or allow anything to strike the HDD. Never use an HDD that has been dropped or struck. Do not remove the HDD if there is a risk that condensation may occur. NOTE: If the temperature of the HDD changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the multi-media module receiver assembly is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [01/2012 - ]

  1. DESCRIPTION LEXUS ENFORM allows the vehicle to receive information from the XM radio satellite and call center and links the information to the navigation system. LEXUS ENFORM permits the driver to use the received information, such as destination information on the navigation system multi-media module receiver assembly.* LEXUS ENFORM provides the following services: Destination Assist, eDestination, Lexus Insider, Maintenance Reminder, App Suite and Safety Connect. For details about Safety Connect, refer to Safety Connect System. Refer to «SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [01/2012 - ]». LEXUS ENFORM consists mainly of a telephone microphone assembly, DCM (telematics transceiver), multi-media module receiver assembly, and telephone and GPS antenna. HINT: *: LEXUS ENFORM is available in the continental U.S., excluding Alaska and Hawaii. In addition, Canada, Mexico and unincorporated territories of the U.S. such as Puerto Rico are not included in the service area.
  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS Component Outline Telephone Microphone Assembly Receives user's voice. DCM (Telematics Transceiver) Receives content information. Connects to the call center when the Destination Assist or eDestination service etc. are active. Sends the vehicle maintenance information signal to the call center. Multi-media Module Receiver Assembly Receives the XM satellite radio information signals from the XM tuner built into the multi-media module receiver assembly (distributed from the broadcast, which includes content information, stock price information, sports related news and weather information). Sends, receives and outputs the microphone voice signal. Telephone and GPS Antenna (Roof Antenna Assembly) Satellite Radio Antenna Receives radio signals from XM satellites. Telephone Antenna This antenna is for mobile phones. It supports transmission and reception of signals in frequency bands for mobile phones. Transmits signals from the DCM (telematics transceiver) and receives signals from the call center or other phones. GPS Antenna Receives signals from GPS satellites and transmits these signals to the DCM (telematics transceiver) and multi-media module receiver assembly. Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly Sends the call center advisor's voice to the front speaker. Front Speaker Outputs the call center advisor's voice. Combination Meter Assembly Sends the vehicle information signal to the DCM (telematics transceiver) and multi-media module receiver assembly.
  3. SERVICES FUNCTION Service Function Destination Assist Downloads the user's desired destination information into the navigation system after the call center is told the destination. Stores the information downloaded in the navigation system so the information can be reused as required. Destination Assist is an in-vehicle service that allows subscribers to request directions to any location. Subscribers are connected to an agent through the Destination Assist soft key and may ask the agent to download the location of any destination to the navigation system in the vehicle. Agents are able to locate specific Points Of Interest (POI's) by search terms, locate specific addresses, or provide Zagat-rated restaurants as premium POI's. Agents are able to search for POI's using the distance from the vehicle, from a city, or from another POI. The vehicle device can store up to 5 POI's at a time, which can be added to the device queue as the first or last entry, or as a replacement for all entries. eDestination Allows the user to edit the destination information stored in the call center database through the Lexus.com owners web site using a personal computer. The edited information can be wirelessly downloaded to the vehicle. The destination information can be separated into a maximum of 20 folders. Each folder can save up to 10 items. Lexus Insider Receives audio data content such as audio messages and articles, and allows the user to display, play and delete them on the vehicle audio system. Receives non user-specific content distributed via XM satellite radio and any user-specific content via the DCM (telematics transceiver). Maintenance Reminder Determines the maintenance timing recommended by dealers according to the vehicle mileage information signal that is sent from the DCM (telematics transceiver) to the call center, and reminds the user of the maintenance timing. App Suite Enables the usable content of a cellular phone to be displayed on and operated from the accessory meter assembly screen. As "Bluetooth" communication is used for the communication between a cellular phone and the multi-media module receiver assembly, before using the App Suite on the navigation system, the cellular phone needs to be registered with the navigation system as a "Bluetooth" device.
