Scheme 424: DISPLAY CHECK MODE
  1. This mode checks the color display on the television display.
  2. Illustrations may differ from the actual vehicle depending on the device settings and options. Therefore, some detailed areas may not be exactly the same as on the actual vehicle.
  3. Use the remote controller for each inspection.
  4. The television display is not a touch panel type. Do not touch the screen.

  1. ENTER DIAGNOSTIC MODE w/ Navigation System: Enter the diagnostic mode. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385263-S26398650752011021400000) . w/o Navigation System: Enter the diagnostic mode. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-385262-S11806598312011021400000) .
  2. COLOR BAR CHECK Select "Color Bar Check" from the "RSE Check" screen. Select a color bar from the "Color Bar Check Mode" screen. Check the display color. HINT: The entire screen turns to the color or stripe selected. The screen returns to the "Color Bar Check" screen if the remote controller is operated again.
  3. REMOTE COMMANDER CHECK Select "Remote Commander Check" from the "RSE Check" screen. Operate each switch and check that the switch name and condition are correctly displayed.
  4. VEHICLE SIGNAL CHECK Select "Vehicle Signal Check" from the "RSE Check" screen. When the "Vehicle Signal Check Mode" screen is displayed, check all the vehicle signal conditions. HINT: Only conditions having inputs are displayed. This screen is updated once per second when input signals to the vehicle are changed. Display Contents *1: Battery Battery voltage is displayed. *2: VTR ADAPTER Displays if exterior input through VTR adapter is possible or not. ON: Exterior input possible OFF: Exterior input not possible HINT: Display only shows if there is a VTR adapter. Display does not show if exterior input device is connected.
  5. AUTO OPEN/CLOSE CHECK Select "Auto Open/Close Check" screen. This is the screen for inspecting the electronic open and close function of the RSE. Display Contents *1: STATUS Electronic open and close function status. *2: Counter Counts number of electronic open and close operations. 1 count occurs if display opens 90° or more. Open and close counter can display up to 5 digits (limit: 99999).

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK MODE IN WHICH WHITE SCREEN OCCURRED Check the mode in which the white screen occurred. RESULT Result Proceed to Occurs in all modes A Only during DVD and DVD-P (rear seat only) image B B --> See step 3 A: Go to next step
  2. CHECK DISPLAY (RSE IMAGE QUALITY ADJUSTMENT SCREEN) Press the remote controller DISPLAY switch, and adjust the settings for contrast, tint and color. OK Returned to normal through image quality adjustment. NG --> See step 6 OK --> END
  3. CHECK DISC Check that the disc is not deformed or cracked. OK No deformation or cracks on the disc. NG --> CHANGE DISC OK: Go to next step
  4. DISC CLEANING Disc cleaning If dirt is on the disc surface, wipe it clean with a soft cloth from the inside to the outside in a radial direction. NOTE: Do not use a conventional record cleaner or antistatic preservative. NEXT: Go to next step
  5. CHECK DISPLAY SIGNAL CIRCUIT Inspect the display signal circuits below. Inspect the display signal circuit between the radio receiver and television display. Refer to «Display Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Television Display Assembly»(ref-385271-S38440727832011021400000) . Inspect the display signal circuit between the video terminal and television display. Refer to «Display Signal Circuit between Video Terminal and Television Display»(ref-385271-S13794487702011021400000) . If the display signal circuit is operating normally, proceed to the next step. NEXT --> See step 7
  6. REPLACE TELEVISION DISPLAY ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-385264-S16985882572011021400000)

  2. CHECK DISPLAY SIGNAL CIRCUIT Inspect the display signal circuits below. Inspect the display signal circuit between the radio receiver and television display. Refer to «Display Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Television Display Assembly»(ref-385271-S38440727832011021400000) . Inspect the display signal circuit between the video terminal and television display. Refer to «Display Signal Circuit between Video Terminal and Television Display»(ref-385271-S13794487702011021400000) . If the display signal circuit is operating normally, proceed to the next step. NEXT --> See step 7
  3. CHECK NTSC/PAL SIGNAL (RSE IMAGE QUALITY ADJUSTMENT SCREEN) During the VTR image, check if changing the NTSC/PAL signal by pressing the remote controller DISPLAY switch, entering the RSE image adjustment screen, and pressing the PAL VIDEO button returns the image to normal. OK Returned to normal after pressing image quality adjustment screen PAL VIDEO button. NG --> See step 4 OK --> END
  4. REPLACE EXTERNAL DEVICE WITH NORMAL ONE AND CHECK Replace the external device with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again. OK Same problem does not occur. NG --> See step 9 OK --> END (EXTERNAL DEVICE IS DEFECTIVE)
  5. CHECK DISC Check that the disc is not deformed or cracked. OK No deformation or cracks on the disc. NG --> CHANGE DISC OK: Go to next step

  1. CHECK TELEVISION DISPLAY ASSEMBLY Check for foreign matter or obstructions caught in the moving parts of the panel. OK No obstruction or foreign matter found. NG --> REMOVE ANY OBSTRUCTION OR FOREIGN MATTER FOUND OK: Go to next step
  2. CLEAN INFRARED RAY RECEIVING PORTION Clean the infrared ray receiving portion on the rear display. Check whether the same malfunction occurs. OK The function returns to normal. NG --> See step 3 OK --> END
  3. CHECK REMOTE CONTROLLER (for BATTERY) Check that the dry-cell battery of the remote controller is not depleted. OK Battery is not depleted. NG --> REPLACE REMOTE CONTROLLER BATTERY OK: Go to next step
  4. CHECK SYSTEM Check that the remote control operation of the rear system is not locked by the radio receiver or the multi-display. Check if "Rear System Locked" appears on the television display. OK The message does not appear. HINT: If the rear system is locked and the remote controller is used in the rear seat area, an operation not possible message (for example, "Rear System Locked") is displayed. If the message is displayed, enter the multi-display screen setting, and change "Rear System Lock" to OFF. NG --> RELEASE LOCK OK: Go to next step
  5. CHECK TELEVISION DISPLAY ASSEMBLY Check if the television display is open. OK Open. HINT: When the television display is closed, some switches on the remote controller cannot be used. NG --> OPEN TELEVISION DISPLAY ASSEMBLY OK: Go to next step
  6. CHECK TELEVISION DISPLAY ASSEMBLY (POWER) Check if the power of the television display is on. OK Power is on. NG --> TURN TELEVISION DISPLAY ASSEMBLY POWER ON OK --> See step 7
  7. REPLACE TELEVISION DISPLAY ASSEMBLY. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-385264-S16985882572011021400000)
  1. CHECK REMOTE COMMANDER (DISPLAY CHECK MODE) Enter the "Display Check" mode (Remote Commander Check Mode). Refer to «DISPLAY CHECK MODE»(ref-385271-S13851119232011021400000) . Operate the abnormal switch and check if the switch name and status are correctly displayed. OK The switch name and status are correctly displayed as operated. NG --> See step 2 OK --> See step 3
  2. CHECK REMOTE CONTROLLER (for BATTERY) Check that the dry-cell battery of the remote controller is not depleted. OK Battery is not depleted. NG --> REPLACE REMOTE CONTROLLER BATTERY OK --> See step 4
  3. REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY SELECTOR. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-385264-S42778056942011021400000)
  4. GO TO DISPLAY SIGNAL CIRCUIT BETWEEN MULTI-DISPLAY AND TELEVISION DISPLAY ASSEMBLY. Refer to «Display Signal Circuit between Multi-display and Television Display Assembly»(ref-385271-S10343002792011021400000)
  1. CHECK MODE IN WHICH SCREEN DOES NOT APPEAR OR IS NOT STABILIZED Check the mode in which the screen does not appear or is not stabilized. RESULT Result Proceed to Only during DVD and DVD-P (rear seat only) image, or multi-display also is not stabilized during DVD image only A Only during VTR image B During VTR, DVD and DVD-P (rear seat only) image C C --> See step 6 B --> See step 4 A: Go to next step

  1. CLEAN INFRARED RAY RECEIVING PORTION Check if the infrared ray receiving portion or the wireless headphone light emitting area is covered. HINT: If necessary, perform the following step. Otherwise, proceed to the "Check Wireless Headphone" procedure. Clean the infrared ray receiving portion on the television display. Check whether the same malfunction occurs. OK The function returns to normal. NG --> See step 2 OK --> END
  2. CHECK WIRELESS HEADPHONE Check the wireless headphone setting. Check that the volume is not set to "0". Check that "MUTE" is off. OK The volume is not set to "0" and "MUTE" is off. NG --> SYSTEM NORMAL (SET VOLUME TO HIGH OR SET MUTE OFF) OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK WIRELESS HEADPHONE Change the location of the wireless headphone and check the sound condition. OK Sound is heard. HINT: The distance between the infrared ray receiving portion and wireless headphone light emitting area, or the angle of the two parts may be the cause. NG --> See step 4 OK --> END
  4. CHECK WIRELESS HEADPHONE (for BATTERY) Check that the dry-cell battery of the wireless headphone is not depleted. OK Battery is not depleted. NG --> REPLACE WIRELESS HEADPHONE BATTERY OK: Go to next step
