INSPECTION PROCEDURE

WARNINGThe pretensioner is built into the front seat outer belt assembly. Be sure to follow the correct inspection procedure, as failure to follow the correct procedure (such as inspection of incorrect connectors) may deploy the pretensioner.

  1. CHECK SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU Disconnect the E41 seat belt control ECU connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Voltage FOR LH Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E41-3 (MOL+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V E41-4 (MOL-) - Body ground FOR RH Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E41-1 (MOR-) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V E41-2 (MOR+) - Body ground NG --> See step 2 OK --> See step 4

  1. INSPECT SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU Disconnect the E41 seat belt control ECU connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance FOR LH Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition E41-3 (MOL+) - E41-4 (MOL-) Always Below 100 ohms FOR RH Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition E41-1 (MOR-) - E41-2 (MOR+) Always Below 100 ohms NG --> See step 2 OK --> See step 4
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT - SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU) Disconnect the E41 seat belt control ECU connector. Disconnect the K11*1 or L5*2 front seat outer belt connector. *1: for LH *2: for RH Using a service wire, connect K11-1*1 and K11-2*1 or L5-1*2 and L5-2*2 of the connector on the front seat outer belt assembly. NOTE: Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Note. Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

Scheme 97: PROCEDURE
  1. INSPECT SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU (+B TERMINAL VOLTAGE) Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. WARNING: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system. Disconnect the E41 connector of the seat belt control ECU. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Voltage Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition E41-7 (+B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. Reconnect the E41 seat belt control ECU connector. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal. NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK --> See step 2
  2. REPLACE SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-385291-S04469957702011021400000)

Note. If DTC B1655 is not cleared, DTC B2074 continues to be stored.

Note. If DTC B1650 is not cleared, DTC B2075 continues to be output.

HINT

When 2 or more DTCs starting with "U" are output simultaneously, inspect the connectors and wire harnesses of each ECU.

Refer to dynamic radar cruise control system DTC U0235. Refer to DTC U0235: Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor .

HINT

Start the engine before inspection. Check the IG1 NO. 1 relay or battery if the starting system does not start.

  1. INSPECT FUSE (ECU-IG No. 1, PSB) Remove the ECU-IG No. 1 and PSB fuses from the cowl side junction block LH. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition ECU-IG No. 1 fuse Always Below 1 ohms PSB fuse NG --> REPLACE FUSE OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the E41 and E42 seat belt control ECU connectors. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Voltage Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E42-8 (IG1) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V Engine switch off Below 1 V E41-7 (+B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition E41-8 (PGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK --> See step 3
