SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. CLOCK SYSTEM OUTLINE The clock can be set through the multi-display screen. w/ Navigation system: The navigation system receives time data from the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. The clock receives time data from the navigation system every minute, and corrects the time.
  2. COMMUNICATION SYSTEM OUTLINE Components of the clock system communicate with each other via the AVC-LAN. The radio receiver has enough resistance (60 to 80 ft) necessary for transmitting the communication. This is essential for communication. If a short circuit or open circuit occurs in the AVC-LAN circuit, communication is interrupted and the clock system will stop functioning.

DESCRIPTION

The clock receives light control switch position information via the AVC-LAN, and performs nighttime illumination. When nighttime illumination is operating, the combination meter's rheostat performs the illumination adjustment.

  1. INSPECT NIGHTTIME ILLUMINATION Turn on the light control switch and check the nighttime illumination of the vehicle interior. Result: RESULT CHART Result Proceed to Only clock does not perform nighttime illumination A Clock and multi-display do not perform nighttime illumination B No nighttime illumination at all C B: Go to step 3 C: GO TO METER/GAUGE SYSTEM (See «PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE» ) A: Go to next step
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CLOCK - COMBINATION METER) Disconnect the L38 clock connector. Disconnect the L10 meter connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance: RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition L38-3(ILL-) - L10-16 (ILL-) Always Below 1 ohms L38-3 (ILL-) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: PROCEED TO NEXT INSPECTION PROCEDURE SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See «PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE» )
  3. CHECK VEHICLE SIGNAL (DISPLAY CHECK MODE) Enter the "Display Check" mode (Vehicle Signal Check Mode) (see «DISPLAY CHECK MODE»(/lexus/ls/iv-2006-2012/remont/navigation-system/#navigation) ). Check that the display changes between ON and OFF according to the light control switch operation. OK DISPLAY REFERENCE Light Control Switch Display TAIL or ON TAIL: ON ADIM TCAN: DIM OFF TAIL: OFF ADIM TCAN: BRIGHT HINT: This display is updated once per second. As a result, it is normal for the display to lag behind the actual change in the switch. The clock receives light control switch position information and GPS information via the AVC-LAN. When a short to +B or short to ground occurs in this AVC-LAN, the clock system will not function normally as communication is discontinued.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CLOCK - MULTI-DISPLAY) Disconnect the L38 clock connector. Disconnect the L60 display connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   1. INSPECT FUSE (P-ACC, DOME) Disconnect the DOME fuse from the main body ECU. Disconnect the P-ACC fuse from the passenger side junction block. Measure the resistance of the fuses. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  9. REMOVE CIGARETTE LIGHTER ASSEMBLY Remove the cigarette lighter knob and element. Detach the clamp and disconnect the connector. Rotate the ring nut in the direction indicated by the arrow, and remove the ring nut from the console panel. Remove the cigarette retainer from the console panel. Remove the cigarette lighter from the console panel.

  1. INSTALL CIGARETTE LIGHTER ASSEMBLY Install the cigarette lighter socket to the console panel. Install the cigarette retainer to the console panel. Rotate the ring nut in the direction indicated by the arrow and install the ring nut to the console panel. Connect the connector and attach the clamp. Install the cigarette lighter knob and element to the console panel.

  4. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX PLATE Detach the clamp and disconnect the connector. Detach the 6 claws and remove the console box plate from the rear console end panel.
  5. REMOVE REAR CIGARETTE LIGHTER COVER Remove the cigarette lighter cover.
  6. REMOVE REAR CIGARETTE LIGHTER ASSEMBLY Remove the cigarette lighter knob and element. Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the socket cover from the console box plate. HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  7. REMOVE REAR CIGARETTE LIGHTER BEZEL STAY Remove the cigarette lighter bezel stay.
  8. REMOVE CIGARETTE LIGHTER HOLE BEZEL Detach the 2 claws and cigarette lighter hole bezel from the cigarette lighter hole bezel stay.

  1. INSTALL CIGARETTE LIGHTER HOLE BEZEL Attach the 2 claws to install the cigarette lighter hole bezel.
  2. INSTALL REAR CIGARETTE LIGHTER BEZEL STAY Install the cigarette lighter bezel stay.
  3. INSTALL REAR CIGARETTE LIGHTER ASSEMBLY Attach the claw to install the cigarette lighter socket cover. Install the cigarette lighter knob and element. When replacing cigarette lighter assembly: Install a new wire harness clamp as shown in the illustration. Standard CLAMP DIMENSIONS Area Standard Measurement a 30 to 40 mm (1.18 to 1.57 in.) b 85 to 95 mm (3.35 to 3.74 in.) Clamp the cord securely. HINT: After clamping the cord, cut off any extra cord so that there is only 1 to 3 mm (0.04 to 0.12 in.) protruding.
  4. INSTALL REAR CIGARETTE LIGHTER COVER Install the cigarette lighter cover.
  5. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX PLATE Attach the 6 claws of the console box plate to the rear console end panel. Connect the connector and attach the clamp.

  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
