DTC B1424/24: DRIVER SIDE SOLAR SENSOR CIRCUIT Lexus LS III

Note. If testing is done in a dark area, DTC B1424/24 may occur even though system is normal. Shine a light at solar sensor, and recheck for DTC B1424/24.

  1. Remove A/C ECU, leaving harness connectors connected. See «A/C ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT»(ref-99101-S36801596042001061800000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on.
  2. Backprobe A/C ECU connector between terminals A11-19 (Blue wire) and A11-1 (White/Black wire). (Схема №8) See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-99101-S32973477022001061800000). Measure voltage at specified conditions. See «DRIVER SIDE SOLAR SENSOR CIRCUIT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-99101-S22919268722001061800000) table.
  3. If voltage is as specified, temporarily substitute known-good A/C ECU, then retest system. If voltage is not as specified, turn ignition off and go to next step.
  4. Disconnect A/C ECU connector A11 and solar sensor connector. Check for continuity between harness side connector A11-19 (Blue wire) and ground. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Blue wire or replace harness.
  5. Reconnect A/C ECU connector A11. Clear DTCs and recheck for DTCs. If DTC B1224/24 resets, replace solar sensor. If DTC B1224/24 does not reset, replace A/C ECU. Retest system.
Condition(1) Volts
Sensor Subjected To Bright Light0.8-4.3
Sensor Covered By ClothLess Than 0.8
(1) As light intensity decreases, voltage should increase.
