  1. Ensure drive belt is properly installed. On a used drive belt, tensioner should be within "A" scale. Replace drive belt if it is outside of "A" scale. On a new drive belt, tensioner should be within "B" scale. (Scheme 31) If drive belt installation is okay, go to next step.
  2. Check compressor and clutch. If compressor and/or clutch are damaged, repair as necessary. If compressor and clutch are okay, go to next step.
  3. Start engine and push AUTO switch. see scheme 1 Backprobe ECM connector and measure voltage between terminal E5-34 (Blue/White wire) and ground. If 10.0-14.0 volts is not present, go to next step. If 10.0-14.0 volts is present, check solenoid control valve changeable compressor circuit. See «DTC B1451/51: SOLENOID CONTROL VALVE CHANGEABLE COMPRESSOR CIRCUIT»(ref-99101-S26853249192001062600000).
  4. Check compressor lock sensor. See «COMPRESSOR LOCK SENSOR»(ref-99101-S30549306582001061800000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If compressor lock sensor is okay, check wiring harness and connectors between ECM connector terminal E2-20 (Gray/Black wire) and A/C ECU connector terminal A11-2 (Gray/Black wire). Repair as necessary. If wiring harness and connectors are okay, temporarily substitute known-good A/C ECU. Retest system.
