- CHECK ABSORBER CONTROL ACTUATOR OPERATION Using SST, connect the terminals 12 (TS) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3. SST: 09843-18040 Turn the power switch ON (READY). Check that the absorber control indicator light is blinking in Test Mode. HINT: If the absorber control indicator light does not blink, inspect the absorber control indicator light circuit and TS and CG terminal circuit. Trouble area See procedure Absorber control indicator light (Remains on) Refer to «Absorber Control Indicator Light Remains ON»(ref-386965-S41770903562011022400000) Absorber control indicator light (Does not come on) Refer to «Absorber Control Indicator Light does not Come ON»(ref-386965-S04291518712011022400000) TS and CG terminal circuit Refer to «TS and CG Terminal Circuit»(ref-386965-S02923345572011022400000) Check absorber control actuator operation. Starting from the SOFT position, depress the brake pedal. Using Techstream, check that the absorber control actuator position increases by 2 steps each time the brake pedal is depressed (1 (SOFT) --> 3 --> 5 --> 7 --> 9 --> 11 --> 15 --> 17 (HARD)). At this time, bounce the vehicle and check that the shock absorber is becoming harder. HINT: Every time the brake pedal is depressed, the absorber control actuator rotates in the hard to soft direction in 15° intervals up to a maximum angle of 120°. To hold the absorber control actuator at a specific position, adjust it using the above mentioned procedure, then increase the vehicle speed to 5 km/h (3 mph). After that, the absorber control actuator position does not change until the power switch is turned OFF. If the absorber control actuator does not operate, inspect the absorber control actuator circuit and absorber control actuator installation condition. - INDICATOR LIGHT CHECK When the power switch is turned ON (IG), check that the absorber control indicator light will come on for approximately 2 seconds. (Absorber control switch is in the "NORM" position.) HINT: If the absorber control ECU stores any DTCs, the absorber control indicator light will come on. If the absorber control indicator light remains on or does not come on, proceed to troubleshooting for the indicator light circuit below. - SENSOR SIGNAL CHECK BY TEST MODE (SIGNAL CHECK) HINT: If the power switch is turned from ON (IG) to ON (ACC) or OFF during Test Mode (SIGNAL CHECK), all Test Mode DTCs will be erased. During Test Mode (SIGNAL CHECK), the absorber control ECU records all Test Mode DTCs. By performing the Test Mode (SIGNAL CHECK), the codes will be erased if normality is confirmed. The remaining codes will be the codes where an abnormality was found. Procedure for Test Mode. Turn the power switch OFF. Connect Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch ON (IG). Set Techstream to Test Mode (select "SIGNAL CHECK"). HINT: Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details. Turn the power switch ON (READY). Check that the absorber control indicator light is blinking in Test Mode. HINT: If the absorber control indicator light does not blink, inspect the absorber control indicator light circuit. - PERFORM SIGNAL CHECK BY TEST MODE (SIGNAL CHECK) HINT: The "SPORT" indicator (absorber control indicator light) comes on for 1 second when inputting each diagnostic signal. Keep the absorber control switch in the "NORM" position. Keep the vehicle stationary on a level surface for 1 second or more (Acceleration sensor check). Turn the absorber control switch from the "NORM" to "SPORT" position and return it to the "NORM" position. (An absorber control switch signal will be input.) The absorber control ECU uses the CAN system and ISO 15765-4 for communication. The terminal arrangement of the DCL3 complies with SAE J1962 and matches the ISO 15765-4 format. HINT: Connect the cable of Techstream to the DLC3, turn the power switch ON (IG) and attempt to use the tester. If the display indicates that a communication error has occurred, there is a problem either with the vehicle or with the tester. If communication is normal when the tester is connected to another vehicle, inspect the DLC3 of the original vehicle. If communication is still not possible when the tester is connected to another vehicle, the problem may be in the tester itself. Consult the Service Department listed in the tester's instruction manual. DTCs (Normal mode) DTCs are memorized in the absorber control ECU and read by using Techstream. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-386964-S15748959292011022400000) . Test Mode (SIGNAL CHECK) By switching from normal mode into Test Mode, you can inspect the absorber control switch and each acceleration sensor. Refer to «TEST MODE PROCEDURE»(ref-386964-S34760142652011022400000) . Check the absorber control indicator light. Turn the power switch ON (IG). Check that the absorber control indicator light comes on for 2 seconds. If the indicator light check result is not normal, proceed to troubleshooting for the absorber control indicator light circuit below. DTC CHECK / CLEAR
- DTC CHECK/CLEAR DTC check Connect Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch ON (IG). Read the DTCs following the prompts on the tester screen. DTC clear Connect Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch ON (IG). Operate Techstream to clear the DTC. HINT: Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details. Turn the power switch OFF and Techstream switch off.
- END OF DTC CHECK/CLEAR Turn the power switch ON (IG). Check that the absorber control indicator goes off within approximately 2 seconds.
DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST
- READ DATA LIST HINT: According to the DATA LIST displayed on Techstream, the value and status of the switch, sensor, actuator, etc. can be obtained without part removal.
