POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM
- Check the basic function of the manual operation function: Turn the ignition switch ON. Check that the door glass moves up when each window switch of the driver side regulator master switch assembly is turned to UP and moves down when each window is turned to DOWN. Check that the door glass moves up when each window switch of the passenger side regulator switch assembly is turned to UP and moves down when each window is turned to DOWN. Check that the other doors glass, besides the driver's, will not operate when locking the window locking switch.
- Check the automatic operation function: Turn the ignition switch ON. Check that the AUTO UP operates and the door glass is fully closed when each window switch of the driver side regulator master switch assembly is turned UP by double-shift. Check that the AUTO DOWN operates and the door glass is fully opened when each window switch of the driver side regulator master switch assembly is turned DOWN by double-shift. Check that the AUTO UP operates and the door glass is fully closed when the window switch of each passenger side regulator switch assembly is turned UP by double-shift. Check that the AUTO DOWN operates and the door glass is fully opened when the window switch of each passenger regulator switch assembly is turned DOWN by double-shift. Check that the door glass stops when the applicable switch is turned UP during the AUTO DOWN operation. However, if the switch is kept in the UP position, it will transfer to the manual operation. Check that the door glass stops when the applicable switch is turned DOWN during the AUTO UP operation. However, if the switch is kept in the DOWN position, it will transfer to the manual operation.
- Check the wireless operation. With all of the doors closed, have no key inserted in the ignition key cylinder. Check that each door glass moves down when the UNLOCK switch of the transmitter is kept pressing for 2.5 seconds or more. Also, check that the door glass stops when the UNLOCK switch is turned off.
- Check the operation function by operating the driver's door key operation (operation interlocked with key). Check that each door glass moves down when the door lock cylinder is held in the UNLOCK position for 2.5 seconds or more by the key operation. Also, check that the door glass stops when the door lock cylinder is turned back to the neutral position.
- Check the jam protection function. Jam protection function only works during the AUTO UP operation. Open the door glass fully. Hold the handle of the hammer near the fully-closed position. When fully closing the door glass with the AUTO UP, check that it moves down without the hammer handle getting caught and will go down by about 7.87 in. (200 mm) and stop there. The window goes down by about 1.97 in. (50 mm) or for about 1 second. In case of that the opening value is below 7.87 in. (200 mm), the window goes down by 7.87 in. (200 mm) or keeps going down for 5 seconds and stops then. During the lowering operation, check that it will not move up when the driver side window regulator master switch is operated to the UP side.
PRE-CHECK
Note. P/W refers to power window.
- Check the power window operation mode. (Scheme 19)
- Check the power window fail-safe function. When an abnormality is detected in the limit switch and the pulse sensor for operating the jam protection function (DTCs: B1231, B1232, B1233, B1234), the following power windows will be prohibited for fail-safe. (Scheme 20) In case of the normal limit switch, prohibition (fail-safe function) will be cancelled by fully opening the door glass from fully closed by manual operation then AUTO operation will be possible.
- Retrieve DTCs. See «RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES»(ref-152599-S42515259192003021400000).
- Clear DTCs. See «CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES»(ref-152599-S27937069792003021400000).
- According to the DATA LIST displayed on the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester, you can read the value of the switch, sensor, actuator and so on without parts removal. Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON. According to the display on the tester, read the DATA LIST: Body ECU (data monitor of switch signal by DTC check). DTC B1221 and B1223 are the codes to inform of each switch condition and will be output when the switch is ON. These codes are displayed when operating the switch. If the codes are displayed even when not operating the switch, there may be trouble in the switch circuit. See «INSPECTING BODY ECU DATA LIST»(ref-152599-S39762260492003021400000) table.
