Removal

Note. In the case of the vehicle equipped with immobilizer or button engine start system, perform "Key Teaching" procedure together. Refer to TEACHING PROCEDURES .

Scheme 94: Removal
  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the ECM connector (A).
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to «INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM»(ref-584173) .
  4. After removing the installation bolts (A) and nut (B), remove the ECM (C).

Installation

  1. Installation is reverse of removal.

ECM Installation Bolt

9.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)

ECM Bracket Installation Bolt/Nut

9.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to «INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM»(ref-584173) .
  3. Disconnect the ETC module connector (A).
  4. Disconnect the coolant hoses (B).
  5. Remove the stay installation bolt (C) and the ETC module installation bolts (D), and then remove the ETC module from the engine.

ETC Module Installation Bolt

7.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)

ETC Module Stay Installation Bolt

15.7 ~ 25.5 N.m (1.6 ~ 2.6 kgf.m, 11.6 ~18.8 lb-ft)

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Disconnect the barometric pressure sensor connector (A).
  3. Remove the installation bolt (B), and then remove the sensor from the air cleaner assembly.

Barometric Pressure Sensor Installation Bolt

3.9 ~ 5.9 N.m (0.4 ~ 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 ~ 4.3 lb-ft)

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor connector (A).
  3. Remove the installation bolts (B), and then remove the sensor from the air cleaner assembly.

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Installation Bolt

7.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector (A).
  3. Remove the installation bolts (B), and then vertically remove the sensor from the surge tank.

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Installation Bolt

7.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)

CAUTIONInstall the component with the specified torques. Note that internal damage may occur when the component is dropped. If the component has been dropped, inspect before installing.
CAUTIONApply the engine coolant to the O-ring.
CAUTIONInsert the sensor in the installation hole and be careful not to damage when installation.
  1. Installation is reverse of removal.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to «INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM»(ref-584173) .
  3. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector (A).
  4. Remove the installation bolt (B), and then vertically remove the sensor from the transaxle housing.

Crankshaft Position Sensor Installation Bolt

6.9 ~ 9.8 N.m (0.7 ~ 1.0 kgf.m, 5.1 ~ 7.2 lb-ft)

WARNINGDON'T remove the camshaft position sensor while the engine is running or right after engine is turned off. The part and engine oil is hot and can cause burns.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector (A).
  3. Remove the installation bolt (B), and then vertically remove the sensor from the cylinder head.

Camshaft position sensor installation bolt

CAUTIONThe sensor connector must be installed parallel to the direction of the engine.

Knock sensor installation bolt

15.7 ~ 23.5 N.m (1.6 ~ 2.4 kgf.m, 11.6 ~ 17.4 lb-ft)

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Disconnect the connector (A), and then remove the sensor (B).

Note. Note that the SST (Part No.: 09392-2H100) is useful when removing the heated oxygen sensor.

CAUTIONDON'T use a cleaner, spray, or grease to sensing element and connector of the sensor because oil component in them may malfunction the sensor performance. Sensor and its wiring may be damaged in case of contacting with the exhaust system (Exhaust Manifold, Catalytic Converter, and so on).
  1. Installation is reverse of removal.

Heated oxygen sensor installation

35.3 ~ 45.1 N.m (3.6 ~ 4.6 kgf.m, 26.0 ~ 33.3 lb-ft)

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to «INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM»(ref-584173) .
  3. Disconnect the connector (A), and then remove the CVVT oil temperature sensor (B).

CVVT Oil Temperature Sensor Installation

34.3 ~ 44.1 N.m (3.5 ~ 4.5 kgf.m, 25.3 ~ 32.6 lb-ft)

CAUTIONInsert the sensor in the installation hole and be careful not to damage when installation.

CAUTIONApply the engine oil to the injector O-ring.

Delivery Pipe Installation Bolt

8.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (0.9 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 6.5 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Disconnect the purge control solenoid valve connector (A).
  3. Disconnect the vapor hoses (B, C) from the purge control solenoid valve.
  4. Remove the valve (B) from the bracket.

Purge Control Solenoid Valve Bracket Installation Bolt: 7.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.2 kgf.m 5.8 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)

(CVVT Oil Control Valve (Intake))

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to «INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM»(ref-584173) .
  3. Disconnect the CVVT oil control valve connector (A).
  4. Remove the installation bolt (B), and then remove the valve from the engine.

  3. Remove the cylinder head cover. Refer to «CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY»(ref-584175) .
  4. Remove the installation bolt (A), and then remove the valve from the engine.

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Disconnect the variable intake solenoid valve connector (A).
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the valve.
  4. Remove the installation nut (B), and then remove the valve from the surge tank.
