THEORY OF OPERATION

The (E12) Panel Lamps Driver Circuit, (M24) Courtesy Lamps Driver Circuit, and the (M27) Reading/Rail Lamps Driver Circuit all share an internal voltage feed from the Cluster. The (A909) Fused B(+) circuit supplies the voltage for these circuits. A short to ground on the (E12), (M24), or (M27) circuits, or the components they feed, will cause the entire interior lighting system to fail.

  1. VERIFY INTERIOR LIGHTING INOPERATIVE Turn the ignition on. Actuate the interior lights. Is the interior lighting inoperative? Yes Go To 2 . No Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(/jeep/grand-cherokee/wk2-2010-2013/remont/communication-devices/#totally-integrated-power-module-tipm-body-verification-test) .
  2. (E12) PANEL LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Cluster C2 harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the (E12) Panel Lamps Driver circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Using the Wiring Information as a guide, diagnose the short to ground in the (E12) Panel Lamps Driver circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(/jeep/grand-cherokee/wk2-2010-2013/remont/communication-devices/#totally-integrated-power-module-tipm-body-verification-test) . No Go To 3 .
  3. (M24) COURTESY LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Measure the resistance between ground and the (M24) Courtesy Lamps Driver circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Using the Wiring Information as a guide, diagnose the short to ground in the (M24) Courtesy Lamps Driver circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(/jeep/grand-cherokee/wk2-2010-2013/remont/communication-devices/#totally-integrated-power-module-tipm-body-verification-test) . No Go To 4 .
  4. (M27) READING/RAIL LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Measure the resistance between ground and the (M27) Reading/Rail Lamps Driver circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Using the Wiring Information as a guide, diagnose the short to ground in the (M27) Reading/Rail Lamps Driver circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(/jeep/grand-cherokee/wk2-2010-2013/remont/communication-devices/#totally-integrated-power-module-tipm-body-verification-test) . No Replace the Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «REMOVAL»(/jeep/grand-cherokee/wk2-2010-2013/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-cluster-service-information__removal) . Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(/jeep/grand-cherokee/wk2-2010-2013/remont/communication-devices/#totally-integrated-power-module-tipm-body-verification-test) .
