Scheme 17: Fuse-boxes

There are six fusebox assemblies per vehicle, five of which have conventional, replaceable fuses. The High Power Protection Module does not have conventional fuses.

Two Engine Management fuse-boxes are shown. Only one is fitted (LHD or RHD) to any vehicle, on the opposite side to the pedal box.

The High Power Protection Module comprises three 250amp fusible links to protect the starting circuit (two connected in parallel) and the battery positive supply to the other fuse-boxes.

  1. Open the driver's door, or both doors if necessary, to allow the side windows to drop. Ensure that the doors remain open until after the battery has been disconnected.
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Remove the battery cover. (Scheme 17): Disconnecting Battery Ground Cable
  3. Open the bonnet and fit body paintwork protection sheets.
  4. Remove the positive supply power cable. Remove the fuse-box from the mounting panel. Reposition the cover from the positive cable (1). Remove the nut which secures the positive cable to the fuse-box (2). Disconnect the positive power cable (3). (Scheme 18): Disconnecting Positive Power Cable
  5. Remove the fuse-box from the mounting panel. Release the securing latch, upwards (1). Reposition the fuse-box, inwards (2). Remove the fuse-box from the mounting panel. Releases the securing tangs and remove the cover from the fuse-box. (Scheme 19): Removing Fuse-Box From Mounting Panel
  6. Remove the fuse-box. Identify and disconnect the harness multi-plugs from the fuse-box. Remove the fuse-box from the vehicle. (Scheme 20): Removing Fuse-Box
  7. Remove the fuses and relays. Note the position of each relay and remove them. Identify each fuse and remove them. The value and position of each fuse is illustrated on the lid of the luggage compartment fuse-box - for all fuse-boxes on the vehicle. (Scheme 21): Removing Fuses And Relays
