TROUBLE SHOOTING
Note. Check data lines before proceeding with any trouble shooting or diagnostic procedures. See LAN COMMUNICATION CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in appropriate MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article.
Using Nissan CONSULT Scan Tool
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect Nissan CONSULT scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Touch START, IVMS, then AUTO DRIVE POSITIONER on scan tool display.
- Touch SELF-DIAG RESULTS, then START on scan tool display. Seats and steering column automatically move and self-diagnostics will start. Within 15 seconds after seat and steering stop, drive vehicle at a speed greater than 4 MPH to perform self-diagnostics of Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).
- After completing self-diagnostics, diagnostic results will be displayed on scan tool. If system is okay, testing is complete. If a self-diagnostic message is displayed, perform corresponding diagnostic procedure(s). See «SELF-DIAGNOSTIC DIRECTORY»(ref-96726-S03901274552001092800000) table.
Without Nissan CONSULT Scan Tool (Mode V)
- To enter on-board diagnostic Mode V, turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Ensure gear selector lever is in Park. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, and within 5 seconds, push memory set switch and both memory switches at the same time for more than 2 seconds.
- Indicator lights on memory switches will illuminate and both seat and steering column will move to indicate successful entry into on-board diagnostic Mode V. Start engine as soon as indicator lights turn off, and within 15 seconds, drive vehicle at a speed greater than 4 MPH. This tests Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) circuit. Stop vehicle, leaving engine running.
- If a circuit malfunctions, a fault code is displayed by flashing indicator lights on memory switches "1" and "2". For example, a fault code 3 is identified as 3 flashes. Each flash occurs in one second intervals. If a fault exists, perform corresponding diagnostic procedure. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC DIRECTORY table. If no self-diagnostic faults are present, Mode V will end after VSS diagnosis is performed. Diagnosis will also end after self-diagnostic results have been indicated for 10 minutes if left unattended.
