- P1605 - Rough Road Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- P1606 - Rough Road Sensor Out Of Range
- Install scan tool. Start engine and check if DTC P1605 or P1606 is present. If DTC is present, go to next step. If DTC is not present, problem is intermittent.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect acceleration sensor harness connector. Connect DVOM between acceleration sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 ground. Continuity should be present. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, check circuit between terminal No. 2 and ECM. See appropriate wiring diagram in «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-16579-S30018521442000122900000) section.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector. Connect DVOM between ground and acceleration sensor harness connector terminal No. 1. Jumper ECM harness connector terminal No. 80 to ground. Continuity should be present. If continuity is not present, check for open between sensor and ECM harness connector terminal. Remove jumper from ECM harness connector terminal No. 80. Continuity should not be present. If continuity is present, check for short between sensor and ECM harness connector terminal. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Reconnect acceleration sensor and ECM harness connectors. Using DVOM, backprobe sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 or ECM harness connector terminal No. 88. Start engine. With engine at idle, DVOM should read 2.3-2.7 volts. With accelerator applied (driving), DVOM should read 0.5-4.5 volts. If voltage reading is as specified, go to next step. If voltage reading is not as specified, replace acceleration sensor.
- Clear DTC. See «CLEARING DTC(S)»(ref-16579-S36162508062000122900000) . Retest system. If DTC resets, replace ECM.
