Note. Ensure KS sensor is tightened to 12-18 ft. lbs. (16-28 Nm). An improperly torqued sensor can cause a faulty signal.
- Install scan tool. Start engine and check if DTC P0326 is present. If DTC is present, go to next step. If DTC is not present, problem is intermittent.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect knock sensor and ECM harness connectors. Check for continuity between ECM terminal No. 71 and KS harness connector terminal No. 2. See appropriate wiring diagram in «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-16579-S30018521442000122900000) section. If continuity is not present, check for open in circuit between knock sensor and ECM. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Reconnect ECM harness connector. Check continuity between KS harness connector terminal No. 3 and ground. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, check for open in circuit between sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 and ECM.
- Check knock sensor resistance. Connect DVOM between KS terminals No. 2 and 3. Resistance should be about 5 megohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace knock sensor. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
- Reconnect KS harness connector. Clear DTC. See «CLEARING DTC(S)»(ref-16579-S36162508062000122900000) . Retest system. If DTC resets, replace ECM.
