- Turn ignition on, with engine off. If MIL illuminates, go to next step. If MIL does not illuminate, go to step 4).
- Turn engine off. Install scan tool. Start engine and check if DTC P0605 is present. If DTC is present, go to next step. If DTC is not present, problem is intermittent. Check ECM ground connection. Check continuity between ECM terminal No. 28 and ground.
- Replace ECM with a known-good unit. Clear DTC. See «CLEARING DTC(S)»(ref-16579-S36162508062000122900000) . Retest system. If DTC resets, replace ECM.
- Check circuit between MIL and ECM. See appropriate wiring diagram in «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-16579-S30018521442000122900000) section. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check ECM fuse. Replace as necessary. If fuse is okay, check MIL bulb. Replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, replace ECM with a known-good unit. Clear DTC. See «CLEARING DTC(S)»(ref-16579-S36162508062000122900000) . Retest system. If DTC resets, replace ECM.
