Carpet Replacement

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to damage, wrinkle, or twist the carpets. Be careful not to damage the dashboard or other interior trim pieces.

Scheme 2

1. Remove these items, then remove the carpet as shown: Seat (see «SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-221368-S00193265182006022400000) ) Kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(ref-221365-S37075338132006022400000) ) Front console cover (see «FRONT CONSOLE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-221367-S23855962952006022400000) ) Rear side trim (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - SEAT SIDE AREA»(ref-221365-S09878491562006022400000) )
2. Install the carpet in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the seat harness is routed correctly. Check for damaged or stress-whitened clips, and replace them with new ones. Apply liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts and seat mounting bolts before reinstallation. Before installing the lower anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belts. Push the clips into place securely.

Center Carpet Replacement

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before performing repairs or service.

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to damage, wrinkle, or twist the carpet. Be careful not to damage the dashboard or other interior trim pieces. Before disconnecting the negative cable from the battery, make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio, and then write down the audio presets. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

Scheme 3

1. Remove these items, then remove the center carpet as shown: Dashboard (see «DASHBOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-221367-S17300771312006022400000) ) Rear console (see «REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-221366-S17472104182006022400000) ) The harness clips securing the SRS wire harness and steering hanger beam wire harness. Cut the carpet in the areas shown below.
2. Install the center carpet in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the SRS wire harness and steering hanger beam wire harness are routed correctly, and clipped into place. Check for damaged or stress-whitened clips, and replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely. Refasten the cut areas with wire ties. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio, then enter the audio presents. Reset the clock. '02-05 models: Do «ECM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-221342-S09897997502006022400000) .
