Removal

  1. Ensure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system. Write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Disconnect the positive cable.
  3. Remove the alternator compressor belt. See «ALTERNATOR BELT»(ref-162803-S39684717322004061000000).
  4. Remove the intake manifold cover and ignition coil cover
  5. Disconnect the alternator 4-pin connector "A" and Black wire "B" from the alternator. (Scheme 7)
  6. Remove the mount bolt "A" and alternator bracket mounting bolt "B". Remove the harness clamp "C" from the alternator and remove the alternator. (Scheme 8)

Installation

  1. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  2. Enter the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system and enter the customer's radio station presets. Reset the clock.
  3. Perform the Powertrain control module PCM idle learn procedure. See appropriate COMPUTER RELEARN article in GENERAL INFORMATION.

Replacement

  1. Move the auto-tensioner "A" to relieve tension from the alternator belt "B", and remove the alternator belt. (Scheme 9)
  2. Install the new belt in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Remove the alternator compressor belt. See «ALTERNATOR BELT»(ref-162803-S39684717322004061000000)
  2. Remove the pulley bolt "A" (left- hand threads), and replace the tensioner pulley "B". (Scheme 10)
  3. Install the tensioner pulley in the reverse order of removal.
