REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| WARNING | Vehicle is equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. When servicing vehicle, use care to avoid accidental air bag deployment. SIR system-related components are located in various locations throughout interior and exterior of vehicle, depending on application. Do not use electrical test equipment on or near these circuits. If necessary, deactivate SIR system before servicing components. See appropriate AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. |
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
- Remove screws and clips. Remove front console. (Scheme 217)
- Install the console in the reverse order of removal, and replace any damaged clips.

Removal
- Remove the front console. See «FRONT CONSOLE»(ref-153089-S15903761972003031400000).
- Disconnect the shift lock solenoid 2-pin connector.
- Pry the shift lock solenoid clamp (A) with a screwdriver, then remove the shift lock solenoid (D). see scheme 8
Installation
- Install the shift lock solenoid plunger (B) and plunger spring (C) in the new shift lock solenoid.
- Install the shift lock solenoid by aligning the joint of the shift lock solenoid with the tip of the shift lock stop (E). see scheme 8
- Secure the shift lock solenoid with the clamp, then connect the shift lock solenoid connector.
