DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
Power moon roof system is powered through accessory delay relay, which is controlled by Generic Electronic Module (GEM) and battery saver relay. A reversible electric motor opens and closes the moon roof. One rocker switch in overhead console controls moon roof glass panel operation.
When switch is rocked rearward, moon roof glass panel will slide rearward. Rocking switch forward, with moon roof glass panel back in storage space, will close moon roof glass panel. When switch is rocked forward with moon roof glass panel in the fully forward position, the rear portion of moon roof glass panel pops up to the vent position. Rocking the switch rearward will close moon roof glass panel from vent position. Some models are equipped with an express open feature. Momentarily rocking switch to rear will open moon roof glass panel completely. System consists of the following components
- Moon roof frame drain hoses.
- Moon roof glass panel.
- Moon roof glass panel module.
- Moon roof motor assembly.
- Moon roof glass panel shield.
- Moon roof control switch.
- Moon roof glass panel trough.
- Moon roof glass panel lifter arms.
MOON ROOF NOISY DURING OPERATION
If moon roof is noisy during operation, check the following
- Incorrect moon roof glass panel adjustment.
- Obstruction in track rail or troughs.
- Rear guide pin not fully engaged in cam slot.
- Rear panel lifters improperly installed.
- Worn or damaged moon roof motor.
If problem is found, repair or replace components as necessary. After repair, test moon roof for proper operation.
NO OPERATION IN VENT POSITION
If moon roof does not operate in vent position, check the following
- Rear panel lifters improperly installed.
- Rear guide pin not fully engaged in cam slot.
If problem is found, repair or replace components as necessary. After repair, test moon roof for proper operation.
TEST C: MOON ROOF NOISY DURING OPERATION
- Cycle moon roof glass panel from fully open to closed position. Watch operation while checking moon roof glass panel for looseness. If moon roof glass panel operation is okay, go to next step. If moon roof glass panel is loose, readjust moon roof glass panel correctly. See «MOON ROOF GLASS PANEL HEIGHT & ALIGNMENT»(ref-37900-S14688848852001011100000) under ADJUSTMENTS. After repair, test moon roof for proper operation.
- Check moon roof rails and trough for foreign objects or looseness. If no faults are found, go to next step. If faults are found, adjust, repair or replace as necessary. After repair, test moon roof for proper operation.
- Cycle moon roof glass panel from closed to fully open position. If moon roof motor assembly does not make excessive noise, go to next step. If motor assembly makes excessive noise, check for incorrect installation. Moon roof motor assembly is located behind center of headliner, behind moon roof glass panel. (Схема №1) If installation is okay, replace moon roof assembly. See «MOON ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY»(ref-37900-S35514599042001011100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, test moon roof for proper operation.
- Leave moon roof glass panel in fully open position. Check lifter arms for correct installation. If lifter arms are correctly installed, check moon roof glass panel for correct adjustment. See «MOON ROOF GLASS PANEL HEIGHT & ALIGNMENT»(ref-37900-S14688848852001011100000) under ADJUSTMENTS. If lifter arms are not correctly installed, replace lifter arms. See «LIFTER ARMS»(ref-37900-S24191581582001011100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, test moon roof for proper operation.
TEST E: NO OPERATION IN VENT POSITION
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Operate moon roof control switch from open to close position. If moon roof operates, go to next step. If moon roof does not operate, perform «TEST D: MOON ROOF INOPERATIVE»(ref-37900-S09861180502001011100000) . After repair, test moon roof for proper operation.
- Cycle moon roof glass panel to flush position. Operate moon roof control switch to vent position. If moon roof glass panel opens in vent direction, go to next step. If moon roof glass panel does not open in vent direction, repair lifter arm assemblies. See «LIFTER ARMS»(ref-37900-S24191581582001011100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, test moon roof for proper operation.
- Operate moon roof control switch to flush position. If moon roof glass panel closes, synchronize moon roof motor assembly. See «MOON ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY SYNCHRONIZATION»(ref-37900-S32873146912001011100000) under ADJUSTMENTS. If moon roof glass panel does not close, repair lifter arm assemblies. See «LIFTER ARMS»(ref-37900-S24191581582001011100000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, test moon roof for proper operation.
