DESCRIPTION
| WARNING | To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM procedures in AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVICING. |
Automatic A/C-heater system consists of Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) panel, Remote Climate Control (RCC) module, heater core, blower motor, compressor, compressor clutch, condenser, evaporator, A/C cycling switch, A/C compressor relief valve, A/C clutch relay, A/C pressure transducer, vacuum controlled airflow control doors, air/pollen filter and ducting to distribute temperature controlled air. Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) system maintains selected in-car temperature in AUTO position. Automatic settings can be overridden using EATC controls. EATC manual override controls are located in the Integrated Control Panel (ICP). (Scheme 6) Included in the EATC panel are the following items
- AUTO and OFF buttons
- FAN (blower speed) rocker switch
- Function and override buttons
- TEMP (temperature) rocker switch
- Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD)
The VFD shows the set temperature, ambient temperature, blower speed and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). The EATC system has a self-diagnostic feature in which Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are stored in the microprocessor memory and displayed on the VFD. The ICP is connected to the RCC module with a dedicated 2-wire communications link.
