Removal and Installation
LH side
Scheme 3
- Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube-to-valve cover fitting quick connect coupling and position aside. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) . RH side
- NOTE: The upper intake manifold must be removed to access the RH ignition coil-on-plugs. Remove the upper intake manifold. For additional Information, refer to «ENGINE - 3.7L»(ref-574170) . Both sides
- Disconnect the ignition coil-on-plug electrical connector.
- NOTE: When removing the ignition coil-on-plug, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal. Remove the bolt and the ignition coil-on-plug. To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
- Inspect the coil seal for rips, nicks or tears. Remove and discard any damaged coil seals. To install, slide the new coil seal onto the coil until it is fully seated at the top of the coil.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boot before attaching to the spark plug.

- Remove the ignition coil-on-plug. For additional information, refer to «IGNITION COIL-ON-PLUG»(ref-574165-S26954397322013082300000) .
- NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage may occur to the cylinder head or spark plug. NOTE: Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs. Remove the spark plug. To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).
- Inspect the spark plug. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574124) .
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.
