Jacking & Hoisting Ford LTD Crown Victoria I

Rear Wheel Drive Models (Continental, Cougar, LTD, Marquis, Mustang, Thunderbird)

  1. Front of vehicle may be lifted by positioning jack under center of number 2 crossmember. The front or either side of rear end, may be lifted by positioning floor jack under rocker flange at contact points used for jack supplied with vehicle.
  2. To lift both sides of rear at once, position floor jack under differential housing. DO NOT make contact with differential housing cover.
  3. Position jack stands under rear axle housing between suspension arm brackets and differential housing. DO NOT place jacks under suspension arm brackets.

Note. On vehicles with air suspension, disconnect electrical power by removing negative battery cable or shutting off air suspension power switch located in trunk. Switch is located in trunk on left front side of inner panel on all vehicles except Thunderbird. On Thunderbird, switch is located on left side of steering column.

Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Mark VI & Town Car

  1. Either front side of vehicle may be raised by jack contact at lower arm strut connection, on front crossmember, or on side rail to which stabilizer is connected.
  2. Front of vehicle may be raised by positioning jack under center of front crossmember. Care must be taken not to contact steering linkage or to compress stabilizer link insulators.
  3. For rear of vehicle, position jack under rear axle housing between suspension arm brackets and differential housing. DO NOT place jacks under suspension arm brackets.

BUMPER JACK

A bumper type lift (jack) may be used on Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Mark VI and Town Car models only. DO NOT raise other vehicles by the bumper at any time.

LIFTING VEHICLE WITH HOIST

CAUTIONFollow hoist manufacturer's instructions are followed. DO NOT allow hoist or adapters to contact suspension, exhaust or steering components.

FRAME CONTACT HOIST

On frame contact hoists, adapters are necessary to lift vehicle. The adapters must be placed at 4 contact points. Position adapters, so they are centered on contact area. All 4 contact points must contact adapters.

AXLE CONTACT HOIST

If an axle contact (twin post) hoist is used to lift a RWD vehicle, place the adapters under the front suspension lower arms. On Thunderbird and Cougar, place fork lifts under axle housing inboard of suspension arm brackets.

Note. On Cougar and Thunderbird models, DO NOT position the hoist pads under the No. 3 crossmember.
