Automatic Transmission External Controls: Removal & Installation Ford Focus II рестайлинг

REMOVAL

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(ref-357126) article.
2. Remove the battery. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-357167) article.
3. Remove the 3 battery tray nuts. Pull the battery tray up, disconnect the wiring harness fasteners from the battery tray and remove the battery tray.
4. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
5. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose and disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
6. Loosen the Air Cleaner (ACL) inlet hose clamp.
7. Remove the 2 bolts.
8. Loosen the clamp, pull the ACL assembly straight up and remove the ACL assembly.
9. Support the flexible exhaust pipe, using a suitable wrap.
10. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe and detach the support isolators. Discard the gasket.
11. Disconnect the center exhaust hanger and support the exhaust with wire.
12. Remove the 8 fasteners and the exhaust heat shield.
13. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the retainer on the unibody and the selector lever cable retaining bracket on the transaxle.
14. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket and manual control lever. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the manual control lever. Depress the tabs on the selector lever cable and remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket. Position the selector lever cable aside.
15. Remove the transmission fluid filler tube bolt from the selector lever cable bracket.
16. Remove the 2 selector lever cable bracket bolts and the selector lever cable bracket.
17. Remove the selector lever. For additional information, refer to «Selector Lever»(ref-357194-S03831102612010030800000) .
18. Remove the 2 screws and the LH floor vent.
19. Using a suitable tool, cut the carpet in the center under the heater core and evaporator core housing to gain access to the selector lever cable grommet in the following sequence. Begin cutting the carpet where the selector lever cable is exposed and cut the carpet back until the tool no longer fits between the floor and the heater core and evaporator core housing. To cut the carpet further forward, access the carpet with the tool through the LH side of the heater core and evaporator core housing. Cut the carpet far enough forward to be able to position the carpet out from under the heater core and evaporator core housing to access the selector lever cable grommet.
20. Position the carpet out from under the heater core and evaporator core housing to gain access to the selector lever cable grommet.
21. Remove the 2 selector lever cable grommet nuts.
22. Remove the selector lever cable. Pull the selector lever cable through the floor panel and remove it through the passenger compartment.

INSTALLATION

All vehicles

1. Position the selector lever cable in place, install the grommet on the floor panel and install the 2 nuts. Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
2. Position the carpet back in place under the heater core and evaporator core housing.
3. Install the LH floor vent and the 2 screws.
4. Install the selector lever. For additional information, refer to «Selector Lever»(ref-357194-S03831102612010030800000) .
5. Position the selector lever cable bracket in place and install the 2 bolts. Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
6. Install the transmission fluid filler tube bolt. Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
7. Move the selector lever to the DRIVE position.
8. Move the manual control lever to the DRIVE position.
9. Unlock the selector lever cable end. Make sure that the selector lever cable end moves freely.
10. Connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever. Connect the selector lever cable to the selector lever cable bracket. Connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
11. Press the lock tab down to secure the cable end from moving.
12. Install the selector lever cable in the retainer on the unibody and in the selector lever cable retaining bracket. Center the selector lever cable alignment mark with the selector lever retaining bracket. Press the selector lever cable into the selector lever cable retaining bracket covering the selector lever cable alignment mark.
13. Install the exhaust heat shield and the 8 fasteners.
14. Connect the center exhaust hanger and remove the support wire.
15. Attach the exhaust pipe support insulators and connect the front exhaust pipe. Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
16. Remove the support wrap.
17. Position the ACL in place and tighten the ACL outlet pipe clamp. Tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
18. Connect the crankcase ventilation hose and connect the brake booster vacuum hose.
19. Tighten the ACL inlet hose clamp. Tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
20. Install the 2 ACL bolts. Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
21. Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector.
22. Position the battery tray in place and install the 4 wiring harness retainers on the battery tray.
23. Position the battery tray on the studs and install the 3 battery tray nuts. Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
24. Install the battery. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-357167) article.

Scheme 6

1. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(ref-357192) article.
2. Move the selector lever to the PARK position and remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever. Remove the selector lever cable eyelet from the ball stud. Squeeze the tabs and remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever assembly.
3. Disconnect the selector lever assembly electrical connector.
4. Remove the 4 nuts and the selector lever assembly.

1. Install the selector lever assembly and the 4 nuts. Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
2. Connect the selector lever assembly electrical connector.
3. Move the selector lever to the DRIVE position and install the selector lever cable on the selector lever. Install the selector lever cable in the selector lever assembly. Install the selector lever cable eyelet on the ball stud.
4. Install the floor console. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(ref-357192) article.
5. Adjust the selector lever cable. For additional information, refer to «Selector Lever Cable Adjustment»(ref-357194-S01649371942010030800000) .

Scheme 7

1. Remove the center console trim cover. Lift the arm rest. Apply the parking brake. Lift the center console trim cover straight up, remove the emergency brake lever from the boot and remove the trim cover.
2. Disconnect the Transmission Control Switch (TCS) electrical connector.
3. Using a suitable tool, slide the selector lever knob shroud down.
4. Remove the selector lever knob screws, selector lever knob and the shroud.
5. Rotate the Transmission Range (TR) indicator light bulb socket counterclockwise and remove the TR indicator light bulb from the selector lever bezel.
6. Release the 3 tabs and remove the selector lever bezel.

1. Install the selector lever bezel on the selector lever. Position the brake shift interlock override in the brake shift interlock override lever guide. Make sure that the 3 locking tabs are locked in place.
2. Install the TR indicator light bulb in the selector lever bezel and rotate the TR indicator light bulb clockwise to lock it in place.
3. Route the wiring harness through the selector lever bezel and position the selector lever knob and shroud onto the selector lever.
4. Install the 2 selector lever knob screws. Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
5. Slide the selector lever knob shroud up.
6. Connect the TCS electrical connector.
7. Install the center console trim cover.

Scheme 8

1. Remove the center console trim cover. Lift the arm rest. Apply the parking brake. Lift the center console trim cover straight up, remove the emergency brake lever from the boot and remove the trim cover.
2. Disconnect the Transmission Control Switch (TCS) electrical connector.
3. Using a suitable tool, slide the selector lever knob shroud down.
4. Remove the selector lever knob screws, selector lever knob and the shroud.

1. Route the wiring harness through the selector lever bezel and position the selector lever knob and shroud onto the selector lever.
2. Install the 2 selector lever knob screws. Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
3. Slide the selector lever knob shroud up.
4. Connect the TCS electrical connector.
5. Install the center console trim cover.
