Audio System

The audio system consists of the following

  1. a single CD audio unit (base system)
  2. front and rear mounted speakers
  3. an optional in dash 6-CD changer (Premium and Audiophile systems)
  4. optional amplifier and subwoofer speakers (Audiophile systems)

Removal and Installation

Note. Prior to removal of the module, it is necessary to upload audio unit configuration information to the diagnostic tool. This information needs to be downloaded into the new audio unit once installed. For additional information, refer MODULE CONFIGURATION .

  1. Remove the instrument panel center finish panel. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(/ford/five-hundred/i-2004-2007/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-and-console) .
  2. Remove the 4 screws and the audio unit. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the antenna lead-in cable.
  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Scheme 2: Steering Wheel Controls
  1. Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(/ford/five-hundred/i-2004-2007/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) .
  2. Remove the 2 screws and the steering wheel controls. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the LH rear trunk trim.
  2. Remove the 3 nuts and the subwoofer amplifier. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the RH rear quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION»(/ford/five-hundred/i-2004-2007/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
  4. Remove the 4 screws and the subwoofer amplifier. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
