- VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN Ignition ON. Verify there is an observable symptom present. Is an observable symptom present? Yes: GO to 2 . No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform a network test. Does the C-CM pass the network test? Yes: GO to 3 . No: REFER to «DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE U»(ref-517597-S15429662672012121200000) : The Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE HUD MODULE SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform the HUD module self-test. Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:1C recorded? Yes: For DTC U3003:16, REFER to «Diagnostic Routine E»(ref-517605-S13361139612012121200000) . For DTC U3003:1C, REFER to «Diagnostic Routine F»(ref-517605-S14743510802012121200000) . No: GO to 4 .
- RECHECK THE HUD MODULE DTCs Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs . Repeat the HUD module self-test. Is DTC U0104:00 still present? Yes: INSTALL a new C-CM . REFER to «CRUISE CONTROL MODULE (C-CM)»(ref-517603-S02009440042012121200000) . CLEAR the DTCs . REPEAT the self-test. If DTC U0104:00 is still present, INSTALL a new HUD module. REFER to «Head Up Display (HUD) Module»(ref-517605-S36576731642012121200000) . No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM MODULE SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test. Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? Yes: For DTC U3003:16, REFER to «DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE H»(ref-517607-S02573080562012121200000) . For DTC U3003:17, REFER to «DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I»(ref-517607-S13088851592012121200000) . No: GO to 4 .
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE HUD MODULE SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform the HUD module self-test. Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:1C recorded? Yes: For DTC U3003:16, REFER to «Diagnostic Routine E»(ref-517605-S13361139612012121200000) . For DTC U3003:1C, REFER to «Diagnostic Routine F»(ref-517605-S14743510802012121200000) . No: GO to 5 .
- RECHECK THE HUD MODULE DTCs NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out. Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs . Repeat the HUD module self-test. Is DTC U0140:00 still present? Yes: GO to 6 . No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK FOR DTC U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES Clear all DTCs . Ignition OFF. Ignition ON. Wait 10 seconds. Using a scan tool, perform self-test. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC U0140:00 set in other modules? Yes: INSTALL a new BCM: REFER to «BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA)»(ref-517607-S22029955872012121200000) . REFER to «BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA)»(ref-517607-S10277508012012121200000) . No: INSTALL a new HUD module. REFER to «Head Up Display (HUD) Module»(ref-517605-S36576731642012121200000) .
- CHECK FOR HUD MODULE DTCs Turn the engine off. Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, clear the HUD module continuous memory DTCs . Carry out the HUD module self-test. Is DTC U210A:16 or DTC U210A:17 present? Yes: GO to 2 . No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set previously due to an internal intermittent fault with the temperature sensor circuit.
- CHECK FOR CORRECT HUD MODULE OPERATION Disconnect the HUD module connector. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the HUD module connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HUD module. REFER to «Head Up Display (HUD) Module»(ref-517605-S36576731642012121200000) . No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
Note. DTC U3003:1C may be stored in the module memory due to past battery charging or vehicle jump starting events.
- CHECK FOR DTC U3003:17, U3003:1C, B1317, B1676 OR P0563 SET IN OTHER MODULES Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform self-test. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules. Is DTC U3003:17, U3003:1C, B1317, B1676 or P0563 (PCM) set in more than one module? Yes: REFER to «DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A»(ref-517537-S10228345752012121200000) : System Voltage High to diagnose an overcharging condition. No: GO to 2 .
- CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE Turn off all the interior/exterior lights and accessories. Start and run the engine at approximately 2, 000 RPM for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage. Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher? Yes: REFER to «DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A»(ref-517537-S10228345752012121200000) : System Voltage High to diagnose an overcharging condition. No: GO to 3 .
- RECHECK FOR DTC U3003:1C Turn the engine off. Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, clear the HUD module CMDTCs . Perform the HUD module self-test. Is DTC U3003:1C present? Yes: INSTALL a new HUD module. REFER to «Head Up Display (HUD) Module»(ref-517605-S36576731642012121200000) . No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.
- CHECK FOR HUD MODULE LED PROVE OUT TEST NOTE: Remove the vehicle from the extreme heat source or sunload condition prior to testing the vehicle. Ignition ON. While placing the ignition in RUN, observe the HUD module LEDs . Do the HUD module LEDs illuminate? Yes: The HUD module LEDs are operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by extreme temperatures. No: GO to 2 .
- CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform a network test. Does the HUD module pass the network test? Yes: GO to 3 . No: REFER to «DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE T»(ref-517597-S06616832162012121200000) : The Head Up Display (HUD) Module Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
- CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE HUD MODULE SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform the HUD module self-test. Are any DTCs recorded? Yes: REFER to «DTC Chart: Head Up Display (HUD) Module»(ref-517605-S23216201992012121200000) . No: GO to 4 .
- CHECK THE C-CM SELF-TEST Using a scan tool, perform the C-CM DTCs self-test. Are any DTCs recorded? Yes: REFER to «DTC CHART: CRUISE CONTROL MODULE (C-CM)»(ref-517603-S23723184712012121200000) - Adaptive. No: GO to 5 .
- CHECK FOR CORRECT HUD MODULE OPERATION Disconnect and inspect the HUD module connector. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the HUD module connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HUD module. REFER to «Head Up Display (HUD) Module»(ref-517605-S36576731642012121200000) . No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. - CHECK FOR HUD MODULE LED PROVE-OUT TEST NOTE: Remove the vehicle from the extreme heat source or sunload condition prior to testing the vehicle. Ignition ON. While placing the ignition in RUN, observe the HUD module LEDs Do the HUD module LEDs illuminate? Yes: The HUD module LEDs are operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by extreme temperatures. TEST the system for normal operation. No: GO to 3 .
- CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE HUD MODULE SELF-TESTS Using a scan tool, perform the HUD module self-test. Are any HUD module DTCs recorded? Yes: REFER to «DTC Chart: Head Up Display (HUD) Module»(ref-517605-S23216201992012121200000) . No: GO to 4 .
- CHECK FOR CORRECT HUD MODULE OPERATION Disconnect and inspect the HUD module connector. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the HUD module connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HUD module. REFER to «Head Up Display (HUD) Module»(ref-517605-S36576731642012121200000) . No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections.
