Power Mirrors
The LH and RH exterior mirror glass movement is controlled by the exterior mirror control switch and the LH and RH exterior mirror motors. When the ignition is ON and the exterior mirror control switch is pressed in the up, down, left or right direction, voltage and ground is supplied to the appropriate exterior mirror motor.
Exterior Mirror Control Switch
The exterior mirror control switch is a momentary contact switch that is integral to the master window control switch. The exterior mirror control switch also uses a rocker-type selection switch to allow the driver to determine which exterior mirror will be adjusted.
Exterior Mirror
Each exterior mirror has 2 bi-directional motors that are used to control the up, down, left and right movement of the exterior mirror glass. The exterior mirror uses a jumper harness between the vehicle wiring harness and the exterior mirror motors. This jumper harness is integral to the exterior mirror.
Interior Rear View Mirror - Manual-Dimming
The manual dimming interior rear view mirror has a lever at the bottom of the mirror that must be pushed forward or pulled rearward to change the reflectance level of the mirror glass.
Interior Rear View Mirror - Auto-Dimming
Voltage is supplied to the interior auto-dimming mirror when the ignition is in ACC or ON. When the forward facing sensor detects daytime conditions, the rearward facing sensor is inactive and the mirror stays in a high reflectance mode. When the forward facing sensor detects nighttime conditions, the rearward facing sensor is active and is used to detect glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear, or other glare producing light sources. To provide increased visibility when backing up, the interior auto-dimming mirror returns to a high reflectance mode whenever the vehicle is in reverse.
The auto-dimming interior mirror utilizes 2 photoelectric sensors, one on the front of the mirror (facing the windshield) and one on the rear of the mirror (in the mirror glass). Based on input from these sensors the auto-dimming feature adjusts the reflectance level of the mirror glass to eliminate unwanted glare. The reflectance level of the mirror glass is variable and adjusts based on the amount of glare detected by the rearward sensor in relation to the ambient light conditions detected by the forward sensor.

- A1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504A. Ignition ON. Measure the voltage between: Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C504A-8 CPW04 (YE) - Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes : GO to A2. No : VERIFY that BJB fuse 25 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate «SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-541395) to identify the possible causes of the short circuit.
- A2 CHECK FOR GROUND AT THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504B. Measure the voltage between: Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C504A-8 CPW04 (YE) C504B-2 RPL63 (BK) Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes : INSTALL a new window control switch. REFER to «GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS - WITHOUT WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP»(ref-569635) . No : REPAIR the affected circuit.

- B1 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504A. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504B. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504C. Perform the EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH component test. Refer to «COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-569645-S11586200882013072700000) . Does the exterior mirror control switch pass the component test? Yes : GO to B2. No : INSTALL a new window control switch. REFER to «GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS - WITHOUT WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP»(ref-569635) .
- B2 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR COMMON CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE EXTERIOR MIRROR AND THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH Disconnect: Inoperative Exterior Mirror. Measure the resistance between: Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit LH Exterior Mirror C520-2 CPM24 (GY/YE) C504A-3 CPM24 (GY/YE) RH Exterior Mirror C626-2 CPM25 (GY) C504A-4 CPM25 (GY) Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes : GO to B3. No : REPAIR the circuit.
- B3 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR JUMPER HARNESS Inspect the exterior mirror jumper harness between the vehicle harness and the mirror motor for: Open or short circuits Damaged or pushed out pins Corrosion Is the harness OK? Yes : INSTALL a new exterior mirror motor. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR»(ref-569645-S40933413102013072700000) . No : REPAIR the harness as necessary. If the harness cannot be repaired, INSTALL a new exterior mirror. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR»(ref-569645-S40119061802013072700000) .

Measure the voltage between: Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit LH Exterior Mirror C504A-3 CPM24 (GY/YE) - Ground C504A-5 CPM16 (BN/BU) - Ground C504A-12 CPM17 (BU/GN) - Ground RH Exterior Mirror C504A-4 CPM25 (GY) - Ground C504A-6 CPM20 (BN/WH) - Ground C504A-11 CPM21 (YE/VT) - Ground Is any voltage present? Yes : REPAIR the affected circuit(s). No : GO to C2.
- C2 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE EXTERIOR MIRROR AND THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Incorrectly Functioning Exterior Mirror. Yes : GO to C4. No : INSTALL a new window control switch. REFER to «GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS - WITHOUT WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP»(ref-569635) .
- C4 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR JUMPER HARNESS Inspect the exterior mirror jumper harness between the vehicle harness and the mirror motor for: Open or short circuits Damaged or pushed out pins Corrosion Is the harness OK? Yes : INSTALL a new exterior mirror motor. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR»(ref-569645-S40933413102013072700000) . No : REPAIR the harness as necessary. If the harness cannot be repaired, INSTALL a new exterior mirror. REFER to «EXTERIOR MIRROR»(ref-569645-S40119061802013072700000) .

- E1 CHECK OPERATION OF THE REVERSING LAMPS NOTE: If the Transmission Range (TR) sensor is malfunctioning and the backup lamps are on all the time or do not turn on, the interior auto-dimming mirror will not darken or return to normal view. Ignition ON. Move the shift lever through the entire range. Do the reversing lamps illuminate only in REVERSE? Yes : GO to E2. No : REFER to «EXTERIOR LIGHTING»(ref-569589) .
- E2 VERIFY THE FORWARD AND REARWARD FACING SENSORS ARE NOT BLOCKED Inspect the interior auto-dimming mirror to make sure the rearward facing sensor is at the top of the mirror glass. See image below. Visually verify the forward and rearward facing sensors are not blocked. Sources of blockage can include: Stickers, window decals or tags. Fold-down screens for TVs or DVD players. Non-OEM window tinting. Are either of the sensors blocked? Yes : If possible, REMOVE the blockage. If it is not possible to remove the blockage, ADVISE the customer that the blockage will effect the correct operation of the interior auto-dimming mirror. No : GO to E3.
- E3 CHECK OPERATION OF THE INTERIOR AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR - DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS Select PARK. Use a bright lamp to illuminate the forward facing sensor and the rearward facing sensor. The mirror should adjust to a high reflectance mode (mirror will be clear). Does the mirror adjust to the high reflectance (clear) mode? Yes : GO to E4. No : INSTALL a new interior auto-dimming rear view mirror. REFER to «INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR»(ref-569645-S16166000292013072700000) .
- E4 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE INTERIOR AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR - NIGHTTIME CONDITIONS WITHOUT GLARE NOTE: Covering the sensor with a finger or hand is not adequate. Simulate nighttime conditions without glare: Cover the forward sensor with black electrical tape or other dark material. Cover the rearward facing sensor with black electrical tape or other dark material. The mirror should adjust to the high reflectance mode. Does the mirror adjust to the high reflectance (clear) mode? Yes : GO to E5. No : GO to E7 .
- E5 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE INTERIOR AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR - NIGHTTIME CONDITIONS WITH GLARE Select PARK. Simulate nighttime conditions with glare: Remove the black electrical tape or other dark material from the rear facing sensor. Illuminate the rearward facing sensor. The mirror should darken to a lower reflectance mode. Does the mirror darken to a lower reflectance (darker) mode? Yes : GO to E6. No : GO to E7 .
- E6 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE INTERIOR AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR - NIGHTTIME CONDITIONS WITH VEHICLE IN REVERSE Simulate nighttime conditions with glare: Illuminate the rearward facing sensor. Select REVERSE. Does the mirror adjust to a high reflectance (clear) mode? Yes : The system is operating normally at this time. REVIEW operation of the interior auto-dimming rear view mirror feature with the customer. No : GO to E7.
- E7 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE INTERIOR AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR AT THE INTERIOR AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR Select PARK. Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Interior Auto-Dimming Mirror. Ignition ON. Measure the voltage between: Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C911-1 CBP62 (GN/OG) - Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes : GO to E8. No : VERIFY BCM fuse 41 (15A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate «SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-541395) to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. TEST the system for normal operation.
- E8 CHECK THE INTERIOR AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN AT THE INTERIOR AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR Measure the voltage between Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C911-1 CBP62 (GN/OG) C911-2 GD138 (BK/WH) Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes : GO to E9. No : REPAIR the affected circuit.
