- G1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE AUDIO UNIT Key in ON position. Turn on the audio unit. Is the audio unit display illuminated? Yes : GO to G2. No : GO to G4 .
- G2 CHECK FOR SOUND COMING FROM THE AUDIO SPEAKERS Verify that sound is coming from the audio speakers. Is there sound coming from the audio speakers? Yes : GO to G3. No : GO to «PINPOINT TEST K»(ref-232292-S06758933212006051600000) .
- G3 CHECK THE AUDIO UNIT CONTROLS AND FEATURES REFER to the for audio system controls. Verify that the controls and features operate correctly. Do the controls and features operate correctly? Yes : The system is operating normally at this time. No : If all of the controls and features are inoperative, GO to G4. If some of the controls and features are inoperative, REMOVE the audio unit. REFER to «AUDIO UNIT»(ref-232286) . SEND it to an authorized audio system repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair.
- G4 CHECK THE VOLTAGE AT THE AUDIO UNIT Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Audio Unit C229a. Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between the audio unit C229a-1, circuit 956 (OG/LG), harness side and ground; and between the audio unit C229a-3 circuit 137 (YE/BK), harness side and ground. Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to G5. No : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
- G5 CHECK THE AUDIO UNIT GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPENS Key in OFF position. Measure the resistance between the audio unit C229a-6, circuit 694 (BK/LG), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : SEND the audio unit to an authorized audio system repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair. No : REPAIR circuit 694 (BK/LG). TEST the system for normal operation.

- H1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE CD CHANGER Key in OFF position. Disconnect: CD Changer C3028. Key in ON position. Turn the audio unit on. Measure the voltage between the CD changer C3028-9, circuit 956 (OG/LG), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to H2. No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- H2 CHECK CIRCUIT 694 (BK/LG) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Measure the resistance between the CD changer U3028-3, circuit 694 (BK/LG), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to H3. No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- H3 CHECK THE AUDIO CIRCUITS BETWEEN THE COMPONENTS FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: Audio Unit C229c. Measure the voltage between the CD changer C3028-8, circuit 1068 (LG/BK), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to H6. No : REMOVE the audio unit. REFER to «AUDIO UNIT»(ref-232286) . SEND it to an authorized audio system repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair.
- H6 CHECK CIRCUIT 1068 (LG/BK) FOR A SHORT TO POWER Key in OFF position. Measure the voltage between the CD changer C3028-8, circuit 1068 (LG/BK), harness side and ground. Is any voltage present? Yes : GO to H7. No : REMOVE the CD changer. SEND it to an authorized audio system repair facility. REFER to «AUDIO UNIT»(ref-232286) . TEST the system for normal operation after the repair.
- H7 CHECK THE AUDIO UNIT Disconnect: Audio Unit C229c. Measure the voltage between the CD changer C3028-8, circuit 1068 (LG/BK), harness side and ground. Is any voltage present? Yes : GO to H8. No : SEND the audio unit to an authorized repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair.
- H8 CHECK THE AUDIO CONTROL PROTOCOL MODULE Disconnect: Audio Control Protocol (ACP) Module C2294b. Measure the voltage between the CD changer C3028-8, circuit 1068 (LG/BK), harness side and ground. Is any voltage present? Yes : REPAIR circuit 1068 (LG/BK). TEST the system for normal operation. No : INSTALL a new audio control protocol (ACP) module. REFER to «NAVIGATION SYSTEM»(ref-232295) . TEST the system for normal operation.

- J1 CHECK THE ANTENNA GROUND Key in OFF position. Measure the resistance between the antenna base and the battery ground cable. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to J2. No : MAKE sure that the antenna is mounted securely to a clean surface. TEST the system for normal operation.
- J2 CHECK THE ANTENNA SHIELDING Disconnect the antenna lead-in cable from the audio unit. Measure the resistance between the antenna shielding and ground. Is resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to J3. No : INSTALL a new antenna lead-in cable. REFER to «ANTENNA»(ref-232293) . TEST the system for normal operation.
- J3 CHECK THE ANTENNA CABLE FOR AN OPEN Disconnect the antenna lead-in cable from the antenna base. Measure the resistance between the audio unit antenna connector center conductor and the antenna connector center conductor. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to J4. No : INSTALL a new antenna lead-in cable. REFER to «ANTENNA»(ref-232293) . TEST the system for normal operation.
- J4 CHECK THE ANTENNA CABLE FOR A SHORT Measure the resistance between the audio unit cable center conductor and the cable outer shield. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? Yes : GO to J5. No : INSTALL a new antenna lead-in cable. REFER to «ANTENNA»(ref-232293) . TEST the system for normal operation.
- J5 SUBSTITUTE THE ANTENNA Substitute a known good antenna base. Ground the antenna base to an unpainted metal surface on the vehicle. Key in START position. Verify the operation of the audio unit. Is the reception clear? Yes : INSTALL a new antenna base. REFER to «ANTENNA»(ref-232293) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : GO to J6.
- J6 SUBSTITUTE THE AUDIO UNIT Key in OFF position. Substitute a known good audio unit. Key in START position. Verify the operation of the audio unit. Is the reception clear? Yes : SEND the original audio unit to an authorized audio system repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair. NOTE: If the speakers have poor quality/distorted sound, only a measurement between each circuit and ground needs to be taken. - K3 CHECK FOR AN AUDIO SIGNAL OUTPUT TO THE SPEAKER WITH POOR QUALITY/DISTORTED SOUND OR NO SOUND Disconnect: Suspect Speaker(s). Connect: Audio Unit. Key in ON position. Turn on the audio unit. For both a suspect tweeter and front door speaker in the same door, measure the voltage between the LH front tweeter C513-1, circuit 804 (OG/LG), harness side and the LH front tweeter C513-1, C513-2, circuit 813 (LB/WH), harness side; or between the RH front tweeter C613-1, circuit 805 (WH/LG), harness side and the RH front tweeter C613-2, circuit 811 (DG/OG), harness side. Carry out the speaker walk-around test by pressing preset buttons 3 and 6 simultaneously. Does the subwoofer sound operate correctly? Yes : The system is operating OK. No : GO to L2.
- L2 CHECK CIRCUIT 174 (GY/BK) FOR VOLTAGE Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Subwoofer Amplifier. Key in ON position. Turn the audio unit on. Measure the voltage between the subwoofer amplifier C466-1, circuit 174 (GY/BK), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 4.1 volts? Yes : GO to L3. No : GO to L7 .
- L3 CHECK CIRCUIT 720 (RD/YE) FOR VOLTAGE Key in OFF position. Measure the voltage between the subwoofer amplifier C466-5, circuit 720 (RD/YE), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to L4. No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- L4 CHECK CIRCUIT 694 (BK/LG) FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between the subwoofer amplifier C466-2, circuit 694 (BK/LG), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to L5. No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- L5 CHECK FOR AN OUTPUT SIGNAL FROM THE AUDIO UNIT Key in ON position. Turn the audio unit on. Measure the voltage between the subwoofer amplifier C466-7, circuit 169 (LG/BK), harness side and the subwoofer amplifier C466-8, circuit 172 (LB/RD), harness side. Is there a fluctuating AC voltage? Yes : REMOVE the subwoofer amplifier. REFER to «AUDIO UNIT»(ref-232286) . SEND it to an authorized audio system repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair. No : GO to L6.
- L6 CHECK CIRCUITS 172 (LB/RD) AND 169 (LG/BK) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Audio Unit C229d. Measure the resistances between the subwoofer amplifier C466-7, circuit 169 (LG/BK), harness side and the audio unit C229d-1, circuit 169 (LG/BK), harness side; and between the subwoofer amplifier C466-7, circuit 169 (LG/BK), harness side and ground. Measure the resistances between the subwoofer amplifier C466-8, circuit 172 (LB/RD), harness side and the audio unit C229d-2, circuit 172 (LB/RD), harness side; and between the subwoofer amplifier C466-8, circuit 172 (LB/RD), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the subwoofer amplifier and the audio unit, and greater than 10,000 ohms between the subwoofer amplifier and ground? Yes : SEND the audio unit to an authorized audio system repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair. No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- L7 CHECK CIRCUIT 174 (GY/BK) FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between the subwoofer amplifier C466-1, circuit 174 (GY/BK), harness side and the audio unit C229d-3, circuit 174 (GY/BK), harness side; and between the audio unit C229d-3, circuit 174 (GY/BK), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : SEND the audio unit to an authorized audio system repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair. No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

- M1 CHECK THE SUBWOOFER Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Subwoofer Amplifier C466. Key in START position. Is the symptom still present? Yes : GO to M2. No : GO to M3 .
- M2 CHECK THE AUDIO UNIT Key in OFF position. Disconnect: PCM Relay C1016. Key in START position. Measure the voltage between the subwoofer amplifier C466-1, circuit 174 (GY/BK), harness side and ground. Is any voltage present? Yes : GO to M3. No : REMOVE the subwoofer amplifier. REFER to «AUDIO UNIT»(ref-232286) . SEND it to an authorized audio system repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair.
- M3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1786 (BN/PK) FOR VOLTAGE Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Audio Unit C229c. Key in START position. Measure the voltage between the audio unit C229e-7, circuit 1786 (BN/PK), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : SEND the audio unit to an authorized audio system repair facility. TEST the system for normal operation after the repair. No : GO to M4.
- M4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1786 (BN/PK) FOR AN OPEN AND A SHORT TO GROUND Key in OFF position. Disconnect: SJB C2280e. Measure the resistance between the audio unit C229e-7, circuit 1786 (BN/PK), harness side and the SJB C2280e-17, circuit 1786 (BN/PK), harness side; and between the audio unit C229e-7, circuit 1786 (BN/PK), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the SJB and the audio unit, and greater than 10,000 ohms between the audio unit and ground? Yes : GO to M5. No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- M5 CHECK FOR SJB OPERATION Key in OFF position. Disconnect all the SJB connectors. Check for: corrosion pushed-out pins Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to «MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES»(ref-232247) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
