DTC TEST NO. 32 - IGNITION TIMING ADJUSTMENT CIRCUIT
Note. For Engine Control Module (ECM) terminal ID see scheme 3 For wiring diagram, see the WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
Note. Possible causes for DTC are: ignition timing adjustment signal wire shorted to ground or defective ECM.
Scheme 60
- Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, check voltage at ignition timing adjustment connector. Ignition timing adjustment connector is a 1-pin Brown connector located on firewall, near battery and contains a Black/Green wire. - Voltage should be 4.0-5.2 volts. If voltage is not within specification, go to next step. If voltage is within specification, replace ECM. The ECM is located below instrument panel, just in front of center console.
- Turn ignition off. Access connectors on ECM. The ECM is located below instrument panel, just in front of center console.
- Check for defective terminals or connections on 12-pin ECM connector B-55. If terminals or connections are defective, repair as necessary. If terminals and connections are okay, check for a trouble symptom. See the «TROUBLE SYMPTOM INSPECTION»(ref-11311-S25206327872000111300000).
- If no trouble symptom exists, check for defective wiring harness between ECM and ignition timing adjustment connector. If wiring harness is defective, repair wiring harness. If wiring harness is okay, replace ECM.
