REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| WARNING | Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS. Do not apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy. |
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
| CAUTION | Always turn ignition off before disconnecting any control module connectors. Failure to do so could result in damage to control module. |
Removal (Front)
- Open door. Lower window. Remove window crank, if equipped. Remove door pull cup screw. Remove door pull cup. While pulling door release handle, remove screw securing door trim panel to door from behind inside door release handle.
- Using removal tool, disengage hidden clips securing door trim panel to door from around perimeter of panel. DO NOT pull on door trim panel to disengage fasteners, door trim panel will be damaged. Tilt door trim panel outward to clear locator pins on backside of door trim panel. Lift door trim panel to disengage from retainer channel at top of door.
- Move door trim panel away from door. Disengage clip holding door latch linkage to back of inside door handle. Separate latch rod from handle. Disconnect harness connectors from door lock switch, mirror switch and power window switch. Remove door trim panel from vehicle.
Installation (Front)
To install, reverse removal procedure. With window in down position, position window crank handle (if equipped) at 10 o'clock position on drivers side and at 2 o'clock position on passengers side.
Removal & Installation (Rear)
- Open door. Lower window. Remove window crank. Remove door trim panel mounting screws from door pull cup and behind door latch handle. Disengage clips from around edge of door trim panel. DO NOT pull on door trim panel to disengage fasteners, door trim panel will be damaged. Disengage door trim panel from inner belt weather-strip at top of door.
- Separate top of door trim panel from door. Disengage linkage clip holding linkage to latch handle. Separate linkage from latch handle. Lift and remove lock button. Remove door trim panel. To install, reverse removal procedure.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove 5 air filter housing lid screws. Remove air filter housing lid. Pull air filter out of air filter housing. Move air duct away. Remove air filter housing bolt and nut. Remove wiring harness from clips on air filter housing. Remove wiring harness clips. Remove 4 air filter housing-to-throttle body bolts. Pull air filter housing out of vehicle.
- Disconnect PCM C1 and C2 connectors. Remove wiring harness clip from PCM. Remove PCM upper bracket mount. Raise and support vehicle. Remove 2 PCM lower bracket bolts. Remove 4 bracket screws. Remove PCM. To install, reverse removal procedure.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Using a trim stick, remove left and right "A" pillar trim panels. Lift up on bottom outer areas of cluster bezel and along the rearward edge of top cover to disengage mounting clips. Pull top cover rearward until forward pins disengage from instrument panel. Remove top cover. (Scheme 1)
- Remove 2 RKE module screws. Slide RKE module connector locking tab sideways to unlock tab. Disconnect RKE module connector. Remove RKE module. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Scheme 1
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove knee bolster. Remove upper and lower steering column covers.
- Disengage steering column wire retainer from SKIM. Remove SKIM retaining screw. Disconnect harness connector. Slide SKIM from around ignition switch and remove SKIM. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Fully open and support deck lid (trunk). Disconnect deck lid release solenoid connector. Remove 2 deck lid release solenoid screws. Remove deck lid release solenoid. To install, reverse removal procedure.
