Body Control Modules: Overview Dodge Neon II

DESCRIPTION

The body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus circuit. Through the PCI bus circuit, information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits is relayed to the appropriate system modules. This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are accessed through a 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chryslers Diagnostic Readout Box (DRBIII) scan tool or generic scan tool.

The following modules are connected to the DLC via the PCI bus circuit.

  1. CD Changer, If Equipped
  2. Compass/Temperature Mirror, If Equipped
  3. Controller Anti-Lock Brake
  4. Left Side Impact Air Bag Control Module (SIACM)
  5. Electro-Mechanical Instrument Cluster
  6. Occupant Restraint Controller1
  7. Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
  8. Radio, If Equipped
  9. Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Module, If Equipped
  10. Right Side Impact Air Bag Control Module (SIACM)
  11. Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), If Equipped
  12. Transmission Control Module, If Equipped

Double activation feature is programmable. When disabled, all doors will be unlocked when key is used in any door. When enabled, turning the key once will unlock only the door key is inserted in. If key is turned twice within 5 seconds, all doors will unlock. Feature can be programmed using customer procedure or scan tool method.

Rolling door lock feature is programmable. When disabled, doors will only lock using door lock switches or Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. When enabled, doors will lock when all doors are closed, vehicle speed is more than 15 MPH and throttle position sensor angle is more than 10 degrees. Feature can be programmed using customer procedure or scan tool method.
