Scheme 922

Scheme 922: Diagnostic Test
  1. CHECK TIPM DTCS With the scan tool, read TIPM DTCs. Are there any TIPM power related DTCs? Yes Refer to «DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Diagnosis and Testing»(ref-353626) and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. No Go to step 2
  2. CHECK THE (T16 EARLY BUILD) TRANSMISSION CONTROL OUTPUT OR THE (A104 LATE BUILD) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT AND THE (F1) IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT (UNLOCK-RUN-START) FOR AN OPEN Ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Transmission Control Module (TCM) harness connector. Ignition on, engine not running. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (T16 Early Build) Transmission Control Output or the (A104 Late Build) Fused B(+) circuit and the (F1) Ignition Switch Output (Unlock-Run-Start) circuits on the appropriate terminals of the TCM harness connector. NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery. Does the test light illuminate brightly on the (T16 Early Build) Transmission Control Output or the (A104 Late Build) Fused B(+) circuit and the (F1) Ignition Switch Output circuits? Yes Go to step 3 No Repair either the (T16 Early Build) Transmission Control Output or the (A104 Late Build) Fused B(+) circuit or the (F1) Ignition Switch Output circuits for an open or high resistance. Perform the MPS6 VERIFICATION TEST. See «DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Transmission Control (TCM) - Standard Procedure»(ref-353634-S38029373642010011200000) .
  3. TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) Repair Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) terminals and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. Check for any Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for possible causes that may apply. If no problems are found, replace and program the Transmission Control Module Assembly (TCMA) in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the MPS6 VERIFICATION TEST. See «DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Transmission Control (TCM) - Standard Procedure»(ref-353634-S38029373642010011200000) .

MPS6 QUICK LEARN PROCEDURE

The quick learn procedure requires the use of the scan tool. This program allows the electronic transaxle system to recalibrate itself. This will provide the best possible transaxle operation.

Note. The quick learn procedure should be performed if any of the following procedures are performed

  1. Transmission Control Module Assembly (includes controller, valve body and solenoid body) Replacement
  2. Dual Clutch Assembly Replacement
  3. Transmission Overhaul (Disassembly and Reassembly)

To perform the Quick Learn Procedure, the following conditions must be met

  1. Shifter must be in P (park) position
  2. Park brake must be applied
  3. Service brake must be applied
  4. The engine must be running
  5. Transmission oil temperature must be above 18° C (64° F) and below 93° C (200° F)
  1. Plug the scan tool into the diagnostic connector. The connector is located under the instrument panel.
  2. Go to the Transmission screen.
  3. Go to the Miscellaneous screen.
  4. Select Quick Learn Procedure. Follow the instructions of the scan tool to perform the Quick Learn Procedure.
