DIAGNOSTIC TEST

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION NOTE: Check for any TSB(s) related to the condition. If a TSB applies, perform the procedure outlined in the TSB before continuing. Turn the ignition on. NOTE: Make sure the battery voltage is between 10.0 and 16.0 volts. With the scan tool, read the module status. NOTE: Check the BCM for any active CAN hardware DTCs, refer to «DTC INDEX»(ref-646339) and perform DTC before proceeding. Does the scan tool indicate that the module is active on the bus? Yes The no response condition is not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires and the wiring harness connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, and corroded terminals. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Go To 2
  2. CHECK THE (A901) AND (A200) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Antilock Brake Module harness connector. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check each (A901) and (A200) Fused B(+) circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly for each circuit? Yes Go To 3 No Repair the open or short in the Fused B(+) circuit. Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646228-S20797392052014072800000) .
  3. CHECK THE (Z909) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z909) Ground circuits. Does the test light illuminate brightly for each circuit? Yes Go To 4 No Repair the open in the (Z909) Ground circuit. Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646228-S20797392052014072800000) .
  4. CHECK THE (F941) FUSED RUN/START RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT CIRCUIT Turn the ignition on. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (F941) Fused Run/Start Relay Output circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 5 No Repair the open or short in the (F941) Fused Run/Start Relay Output circuit. Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646228-S20797392052014072800000) .
  5. (D79) CAN C BUS (+) CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the CAN C Body C4 Star Connector. Measure the resistance of the (D79) CAN C Bus (+) circuit between the CAN C Body C4 Star Connector and the Antilock Brake Module connector. Is resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Go To 6 No Repair the open in the (D79) CAN C Bus (+) circuit. Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646228-S20797392052014072800000) .
  6. (D80) CAN C BUS (-) CIRCUIT OPEN Measure the resistance of the (D80) CAN C Bus (-) circuit between the CAN C Body C4 Star Connector and the Antilock Brake Module connector. Is resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Replace the Antilock Brake System Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, REMOVAL»(ref-646224-S01537269742014072800000) . Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646228-S20797392052014072800000) . No Repair the open in the (D80) CAN C Bus (-) circuit. Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646228-S20797392052014072800000) .

  2. CHECK THE (A931) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Radio Amplifier C1 harness connector. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (A931) Fused B(+) circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 3 No Repair the open or short in the (A931) Fused B(+) circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  3. CHECK THE (Z911) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z911) Ground circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly for each circuit? Yes Go To 4 No Repair the open in the (Z911) Ground circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  4. (D207) OR (D206) CAN IHS BUS CIRCUIT OPEN Disconnect the CAN IHS IP C1 Star Connector. Measure the resistance of the (D206) CAN IHS Bus (-) circuit between the CAN IHS IP C1 Star Connector and the Radio Amplifier C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (D207) CAN IHS Bus (+) circuit between the CAN IHS IP C1 Star Connector and the Radio Amplifier C1 harness connector. Is resistance below 5.0 Ohms on both circuits? Yes Replace the Radio Amplifier in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «AMPLIFIER, REMOVAL»(ref-646238-S06891684492014072800000) . Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Repair the open in the (D207) or (D206) CAN IHS Bus circuit. Inspect the connector for damage. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION NOTE: If the scan tool is unable to identify the vehicle, a CAN C bus concern may be present. Refer to «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-646292-S21791958192014072800000) and perform the CAN C BUS NO RESPONSE diagnostic procedure. NOTE: Check for any TSB(s) related to the condition. If a TSB applies, perform the procedure outlined in the TSB before continuing. Turn the ignition on. NOTE: Make sure the battery voltage is between 10.0 and 16.0 volts. With the scan tool, read the module status. NOTE: Check the BCM for any active CAN hardware DTCs, refer to «DTC INDEX»(ref-646339) and perform DTC before proceeding. Does the scan tool indicate that the module is active on the bus? Yes The no response condition is not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires and the wiring harness connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, and corroded terminals. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Go To 2
  2. CHECK THE FUSED B(+) CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, disconnect the appropriate BCM harness connectors that house the Fused B(+) circuits. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check each Fused B(+) circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly for each circuit? Yes Go To 3 No Repair the open or short in the applicable Fused B(+) circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  3. CHECK THE (Z911) GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z911) Ground circuits. Does the test light illuminate brightly for each circuit? Yes Go To 4 No Repair the open in the (Z911) Ground circuit(s). Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  4. CHECK THE (D45) AND (D46) CAN C BUS (+) CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the CAN C Body C9 Star Connector. Measure the resistance of the (D45) CAN C Bus (+) circuit between the CAN C Body C9 Star Connector and the BCM C4 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (D46) CAN C Bus (-) circuit between the CAN C Body C9 Star Connector and the BCM C4 harness connector. Are the resistances below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Replace the BCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, BODY CONTROL, REMOVAL»(ref-646224-S08964387072014072800000) . Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Repair the open in the (D45) CAN C Bus (+) or (D46) CAN C Bus (-) circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .

Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Go To 2
  2. CHECK THE (A937) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the CTM harness connector. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (A937) Fused B(+) circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 3 No Repair the open or short in the (A937) Fused B(+) circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  3. CHECK THE (Z911) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z911) Ground circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 4 No Repair the open in the (Z911) Ground circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  4. CHECK THE (D209) OR (D208) CAN IHS BUS CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Disconnect the CAN IHS IP C7 Star Connector. Measure the resistance of the (D208) CAN IHS Bus (-) circuit between the CAN IHS IP C7 Star Connector and the CTM harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (D209) CAN IHS Bus (+) circuit between the CAN IHS IP C7 Star Connector and the CTM harness connector. Is resistance below 5.0 Ohms on both circuits? Yes Replace the CTM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, CONVERGENCE TELEMATICS, REMOVAL»(ref-646224-S21121113302014072800000) . Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Repair the open in the (D209) or (D208) CAN IHS Bus circuit. Inspect the connector for damage. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .

  2. CHECK THE (F921) FUSED IGNITION RUN CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the CSWM C1 harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (F921) Fused Ignition Run Control Output circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 3 No Repair the open or short in the (F921) Fused Ignition Run Control Output circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  3. CHECK THE (Z919) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Turn the ignition off. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z919) Ground circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 4 No Repair the open in the (Z919) Ground circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  4. CHECK THE (D163) AND (D164) CAN IHS BUS CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN Disconnect the CAN IHS IP C10 Star Connector. Measure the resistance of the (D164) CAN IHS Bus (-) circuit between the CAN IHS IP C10 Star Connector and the CSWM C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (D163) CAN IHS Bus (+) circuit between the CAN IHS IP C10 Star Connector and the CSWM C1 harness connector. Are the resistances below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Replace the CSWM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, COMFORT SEAT AND WHEEL, REMOVAL»(ref-646224-S24379494572014072800000) . Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Repair the open in the (D163) or (D164) CAN IHS Bus circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .

  2. CHECK THE (A933) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the EDM harness connector. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (A933) Fused B(+) circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 3 No Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, repair the open or short to ground on the (A933) Fused B(+) circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  3. CHECK THE (Z912) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z912) Ground circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 4 No Repair the open in the (Z912) Ground circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  4. CHECK THE (D198) OR (D199) CAN IHS BUS CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Disconnect the CAN IHS IP Star connector. Measure the resistance of the (D198) CAN IHS Bus (-) circuit between the CAN IHS IP Star connector and the EDM harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (D199) CAN IHS Bus (+) circuit between the CAN IHS IP Star connector and the EDM harness connector. Is resistance below 5.0 Ohms on both circuits? Yes Replace the External Disc Module (EDM) in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Repair the open in the (D198) or (D199) CAN IHS Bus circuit. Inspect the connector for damage. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .

  2. CHECK THE (F942) FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT (RUN/START) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the EHPS harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (F942) Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run/Start) circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 3 No Repair the open or short to ground on the (F942) Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run/Start) circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  3. CHECK THE (A950) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND Turn the ignition off. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (A950) Fused B(+) circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 4 No Repair the open or short to ground on the (A950) Fused B(+) circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  4. CHECK THE (Z907) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check each (Z907) Ground circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly for each circuit? Yes Go To 5 No Repair the open in the (Z907) Ground circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  5. CHECK THE (D138) AND (D139) CAN C BUS CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the CAN C Body C5 Star Connector. Measure the resistance of the (D138) CAN C Bus (-) circuit between the CAN C Body C5 Star Connector and the EHPS harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (D139) CAN C Bus (+) circuit between the CAN C Body C5 Star Connector and the EHPS harness connector. Are the resistances below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Replace the Electronic Power Steering Module in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Repair the open in the (D138) or (D139) CAN C Bus circuit. Inspect the connector for damage. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .

  2. CHECK THE (F1) IGNITION OFF/RUN/START CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Shift Lever Assembly C1 harness connectors. Turn the ignition on. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (F1) Ignition Off/Run/Start Control Output circuit. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 3 No Repair the open or short in the (F1) Ignition Off/Run/Start Control Output circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  3. CHECK THE (Z919) GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z919) Ground circuits at the Shift Lever Assembly harness connector. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 4 No Repair the open in the (Z919) Ground circuit(s). Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .
  4. CHECK THE (D429) AND (D430) CAN C BUS CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the CAN C Body C7 Star Connector. Measure the resistance of the (D430) CAN C Bus (-) circuit between the CAN C Body C7 Star Connector and the Shift Lever Assembly harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (D429) CAN C Bus (+) circuit between the CAN C Body C7 Star Connector and the Shift Lever Assembly harness connector. Are the resistances below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Replace the Shift Lever Assembly in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) . No Repair the open in the (D429) or (D430) CAN C Bus circuit. Inspect the connector for damage. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-646248-S24006549342014072800000) .

  2. CHECK THE (A941) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the A/C Heater Module harness connectors. Is there more than one ECU with stored DTCs "Logged Against" the module and one or more lost communication DTCs stored in the offending module? Yes Verify if the vehicle was recently in for this type of service. Otherwise, visually inspect the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires and the wiring harness connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, and corroded terminals. Repair as necessary. No Go To 4

  5. VERIFY INTERMITTENT LOST COMMUNICATION DTC - REPORTING MODULE With the scan tool, read all DTCs. Is there ONLY ONE ECU with stored DTCs "Logged Against" the module? Yes Check for a TSB related to the module that set this DTC. No Verify if the vehicle was recently in for this type of service. Otherwise, visually inspect the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires and the wiring harness connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, and corroded terminals.
