REMOVAL
| WARNING | Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury. |

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the right side instrument panel silencer panel. Refer to «PANEL, SILENCER, REMOVAL»(ref-481397-S40382014792012062200000) .
- Remove the glove box and the glove box trim panel from the instrument panel. Refer to «GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL»(ref-481397-S15665633072012062200000) .
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (3) from the A/C heater module (1), located on the air inlet housing (4). NOTE: It is not necessary to fully remove the two front A/C heater module retaining screws. The front A/C heater module retaining tabs are slotted to aid in module service.
- Loosen the two screws (2) that secure the front of the A/C heater module to the air inlet housing.
- Remove the one screw (5) that secures the rear of the A/C heater module to the air inlet housing.
- Slide the A/C heater module rearward to disengage the module from the two front retaining screws and remove the module.
INSTALLATION
Note. Illustration shown with instrument panel removed from view for clarity.
- Position the A/C heater module (1) to the air inlet housing (4) and engage the module to the two front retaining screws (2).
- Loosely install the screw (5) that secures the rear of the A/C heater module to the air inlet housing.
- Tighten all the screws that secure the A/C heater module to the air inlet housing to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.).
- Connect the wire harness connector (3) to the A/C heater module.
- Install the glove box trim panel and glove box. Refer to «GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, INSTALLATION»(ref-481397-S33053311572012062200000) .
- Install the right side instrument panel silencer. Refer to «PANEL, SILENCER, INSTALLATION»(ref-481397-S02823680992012062200000) .
- Reconnect the negative battery cable.
- Initiate the Actuator Calibration function using a scan tool. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-481431-S34075882272012062200000) .

Vehicles equipped with Active Damping Suspension (ADS) have an Active Damping Control Module (ADCM). The ADCM (1) is located in the left side of the trunk and is retained by three mounting screws (2). The carpet on the left side of the trunk has to be repositioned to access the ADCM.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the left side inner trunk fasteners and position the carpet aside.
- Disconnect the wire harness connectors and remove the three screws (2) from the Adaptive Damping Control Module (ADCM).
- Release the integral latches that secure the ADCM (1) to the mounting bracket and slide the module upward to remove from the vehicle.
- Slide the Active Damping Control Module (ADCM) (1) into position making sure the latches secure the ADCM.
- Install the retaining screws (2) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.).
- Connect the wire harness connectors to the ADCM (1).
- Position the carpet back in the original location and install the fasteners.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to «CABLES, BATTERY, INSTALLATION»(ref-481411-S13211100602012062200000) .
- Perform the ADCM Verification Test.

Note. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) may also be referred to as Electronic Stability Program (ESP) depending on the vehicle model year and configuration. Certain components may also reference ESP, ESC, or use the traction control symbol.
The Antilock Brake Module (ABM) is a microprocessor-based device which monitors the Antilock Brake System (ABS) during normal braking and controls it when the vehicle is in an ABS stop. The ABM also monitors the Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
The ABM (1) is mounted to the HCU (2) as part of the Integrated Control Unit (ICU). The ABM uses a 47-Way connector on the vehicle wiring harness. The power source for the ABM is through the ignition switch in the RUN or ON position. The ABM is on the CAN-C bus.

- Disconnect negative (-) battery cable (2) from battery post and isolate. NOTE: Use this figure in the following step to release the ABM harness connector cover. It shows the location of the release tabs.
- Disconnect ABM harness connector from antilock brake module (ABM). To do so: Depress tabs on each side of connector cover, then Pull outward and upward on lower half of cover until it locks into position pointing straight outward (2). Connector can then be pulled straight outward off ABM (1). NOTE: DO NOT remove any brake lines from the ICU fluid ports while performing the following steps. The ABM can be removed and installed without doing so.
- Unclip all brake tubes from two routing clips (1) along upper radiator support.
- Unclip right front brake tube (3) from routing clip on bracket below Fuse And Relay Center.
- Unclip rear brake tubes (1, 2) from routing clip (3) on bracket below Fuse And Relay Center.
- Lift ICU (1) from mounting grommets (2) and move inboard allowing access to ABM attaching screws. Do not force brake tubes. Move assembly just enough to access mounting screws.
- Remove four screws (1) attaching ABM (2) to HCU.
- Slide ABM (1) off HCU (2).

- Clean any debris off the mating surfaces of the HCU and ABM.
- If the seals (1) on the solenoid valve stems (2) are not new, replace them all. Each of the solenoid valve stem seals must be new to keep out moisture and debris; do not reuse solenoid valve stem seals .
- Replace the pump/motor connector O-ring (1) if it is not new. Be sure the O-ring is properly seated in the mounting groove (2).
- Align components and install the ABM (1) on the HCU (2).
- Install the four screws (1) attaching the ABM (2) to the HCU. Tighten the mounting screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.).
- Position ICU (1) above mounting grommets (2) located in body side rail and press mounting bracket into place.
- Clip rear brake tubes (1, 2) to routing clip (3) on bracket below Fuse And Relay Center.
- Clip right front brake tube (3) to routing clip on bracket below Fuse And Relay Center.
- Clip brake tubes to two routing clips (1) along upper radiator support. CAUTION: Before installing the ABM harness connector (2) on the ABM (1), be sure the seal is properly installed in the connector.
- Insert ABM harness connector (2) into socket of ABM (1) and close cover, locking connector in place.
- Connect battery negative cable (2) to battery post. It is important that this is performed properly.
- Perform ABS Verification Test and clear any faults. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-481415-S18337948042012062200000) .

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the glove box assembly (1). Refer to «GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL»(ref-481397-S15665633072012062200000) .
- Remove the Instrument Panel (IP) lower hush panel (3).
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the Body Control Module (BCM) (1) receptacles (2 and 3) as needed.
- Remove the fasteners (4) that secure the module, two at the bottom, and one at the top.
- Pull the module away from the side bulk head and down and remove the module.
- Remove the BCM from the vehicle.
- Position the door control module (2) to the front door hardware module carrier (1).
- Install and tighten the two screws (4) that secure the door control module to the front door hardware module carrier. Tighten the screws securely.
- Reconnect each of the electrical connectors (3) to the connector receptacles of the door control module.
- Reinstall the trim panel to the inside of the front door. Refer to «PANEL, DOOR TRIM, INSTALLATION»(ref-481397-S38140478452012062200000) .
- Reconnect the battery negative cable.
- The Clear/Relearn procedure should be performed following service of a door control module so that the module can learn the correct hard stops of the power window regulator. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-481432-S30287858142012062200000) .
- Slide the Drive Train Control Module (3) on the mounting stud (6) and over mounting stud (5).
- Intstall the mounting nuts (2 and 4). Tighten the nuts to 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.).
- Install the drivers side foot rest. Refer to «FOOT REST, FLOOR, FRONT, INSTALLATION»(ref-481397-S21744929432012062200000) .

- Connect the negative battery cable.

The Heated Seat Module (HSM) (1), also know as the comfort seat wheel module, is a microprocessor designed to use the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus messages from the U-Connect Touch™ screen module to operate the front heated seats, front vented seats, heated steering wheel and the rear heated seats, depending on how equipped.
When equipped with rear heated seats, the HSM receives request signals from the rear heated seat switches over hard-wired circuits.
The HSM has multiple electrical connector outlets (2) and three retaining tabs (3 and 4) that secure it to a bracket mounted to the underside of the front passenger seat.

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the fasteners that secure the front passenger seat to the body and tip the seat rearward to gain access to the underneath of the seat. Refer to «SEAT, FRONT, REMOVAL»(ref-481397-S16491079962012062200000) .
- Disconnect the electrical connectors (3) from the Heated Seat Module (HSM) (1).
- Disengage the retaining tab (5) that secures the rear of the HSM to the bracket (4).
- Disengage the two front retaining tabs (2) from the bracket and remove the HSM.
| CAUTION | Properly align the Heated Seat Module (HSM) retaining tabs to the bracket, prior to engagement. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the HSM. |
- Position the Heated Seat Module (HSM) (1) to the bracket (4) and engage the two front retaining tabs (2). Make sure the front retaining tabs are correctly engaged to the bracket.
- Engage the rear HSM retaining tab (5). Make sure the rear retaining tab is fully engaged to the bracket.
- Connect the electrical connectors (3) to the HSM.
- Install the seat. Refer to «SEAT, FRONT, INSTALLATION»(ref-481397-S32463582242012062200000) .
- Reconnect the negative battery cable.
- Verify proper heated seat system operation.
Note. Anytime a Memory Seat Module (MSM) is replaced, the MSM must be cleared of all learned parameters using a scan tool, and the Power Seat System Verification test must be performed.
Note. Depending on how equipped, more memory seat module electrical connectors may be present than shown in the illustration.

- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Remove the fasteners that secure the driver seat to the body and tip the seat rearward to gain access to the underneath of the seat. Refer to «SEAT, FRONT, REMOVAL»(ref-481397-S16491079962012062200000) .
- Disconnect all the electrical connectors (1) from the front of the Memory Seat Module (MSM) (2).
- Disengage the two front MSM retaining tabs (3 and 5) from the bracket (4) by carefully pushing up on the front of the MSM.
- Disengage the two rear MSM retaining tabs from the bracket by carefully pulling the MSM forward.
- Disconnect all electrical connectors from the rear of the MSM and remove the MSM.
Note. Depending on how equipped, more memory seat module electrical connectors may be present than shown in the illustration.
- Position the Memory Seat Module (MSM) (2) to the bracket (4) and connect all electrical connectors to the rear of the MSM. CAUTION: Properly align the Memory Seat Module (MSM) retaining tabs to the bracket, prior to engagement. Failure to follow these instructions may result damage to the MSM retaining tabs.
- Install the MSM into the bracket and engage the two rear MSM retaining tabs to the bracket.
- Engage the two front MSM retaining tabs (3 and 5) to the bracket by carefully pulling down on the front of the MSM.
- Connect all the electrical connectors (1) to the front of the MSM.
- Install the driver seat. Refer to «SEAT, FRONT, INSTALLATION»(ref-481397-S32463582242012062200000) .
- Reconnect the negative battery cable. NOTE: Anytime a Memory Seat Module (MSM) is replaced, the MSM must be cleared of all learned parameters using a scan tool, and the Power Seat System Verification test must be performed.
- Using a scan tool, select Clear All MSM Learned Parameters, found under the Memory Seat Module, Miscellaneous Functions tab.
- Perform the Power Seat System Verification test. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-481428-S25292568372012062200000) .
- Verify proper memory seat system operation.
Scheme 44
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is located in the engine compartment. The PCM is referred to as NGC.
- If removed, position the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) mounting bracket (1) onto the PCM (4), install the two retaining nuts (2) and tighten to 8 N.m (71 in. lbs.).
- If removed, install the NVH rubber bumper (3) onto the PCM. NOTE: Prior to reconnecting the electrical connectors to the PCM, check the pins in the electrical connectors for misalignment and/or damage. Repair as necessary.
- Position the PCM (3) into the vehicle.
- Connect the PCM harness connectors (2).
- Position the PCM bracket to the cross support, install the retaining bolt (1) and tighten to 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.).
- Position the front cowl top panel (1) to the right rear corner of the engine compartment.
- Install the two push-pins (2) that secure the front cowl top panel.
- Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut (1) to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.). NOTE: If a new PCM is installed, it must be programed with the original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and mileage. If this is not done, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may set. NOTE: If a new PCM is installed. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-481399-S07326468942012062200000) .
- If a new PCM is being installed, use a scan tool and program the new PCM with the original VIN and vehicle mileage.

The RF Hub is located on the rear center of the package shelf under the trim panel.
Note. Replace and Program the module(s) per the RF-Hub, BCM, PCM FOBik and ELV Replacement and Programming Order Guide. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Position into place and install the RF Hub (4) and retainers (1).
- Connect the electrical connectors (2).
- If equipped, connect the remote start antenna (3).
- Install the rear shelf cover. Refer to «PANEL, REAR SHELF, INSTALLATION»(ref-481397-S35927464542012062200000) .
- Connect the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) to the negative battery post.
Note. Program the RF-Hub. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

The Steering Control Module (SCM) for this vehicle is integral to the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). The SCCM is located near the top of the steering column below the steering wheel. The SCCM includes the steering column shroud (1), the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) (2), the clockspring (3), the multi-function switch (6), a steering column power tilt and telescope switch (5) for vehicles so equipped and a trim cover (4).
The SCCM is secured to the steering column by a unique mounting system using no external fasteners. The SCCM has two key stone features that snap into slots in the upper column jacket to secure the SCCM. In addition, a mechanical red indicator on the lower surface of the column shroud will be flush with the shroud surface when the SCCM is properly installed, but will stand proud of the shroud surface if the key stones are incompletely or improperly seated in the slots of the column jacket.
There are also unique lugs cast into the outer circumference of the steering wheel hub that must be engaged into slots within the inner circumference of the clockspring rotor hub to unlock and drive both the clockspring and the SAS, and the steering wheel must be tightened to specification to ensure proper clockspring and SAS function.
The SCCM includes an integral connector receptacle that faces toward the instrument panel and is connected to the vehicle electrical system through a single take out and connector of the instrument panel wire harness. The instrument panel wire harness take out has been intentionally provided with additional length to facilitate service removal and installation of the SCCM. However, following SCCM installation, this additional length must be pulled back and secured to the instrument panel structure to prevent the potential for undesirable rattling and buzzing noises while driving.
The SCM cannot be adjusted or repaired. If ineffective or damaged the entire SCCM unit must be replaced.

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment. |
| CAUTION | Always turn the steering wheel until the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position. Then, prior to disconnecting the steering column from the steering gear, lock the steering wheel to the steering column. If clockspring centering has been compromised for ANY reason, the entire Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) and clockspring unit MUST be replaced with a new unit. |

- Before reinstalling a Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) onto a steering column, clockspring centering must be confirmed by viewing the inspection window (3) on the clockspring rotor (1). If the black squares (2) on the clockspring tape are not visible through the inspection window, clockspring centering has been compromised and the SCCM MUST be replaced with a new unit.
- Be certain that the front wheels are still in the straight ahead position.
- If a new SCCM is being installed, disengage the steering column gap hider from the lower edge of the used SCCM shroud and transfer it to the new one.
- Position the SCCM close enough to the top of the steering column to reach through the back of the gap hider and shroud to reconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector SCCM take out to the lower SCCM connector receptacle.
- Align the hub of the SCCM with the upper steering column shaft (5) and jacket (3).
- Slide the SCCM over the top of the steering column jacket far enough for the spring-loaded upper and lower keystones (6) to engage the slots (4) in the top and bottom of the steering column jacket.
- Confirm that the keystones are fully engaged in the column jacket slots by inspecting the round red indicator (7) visible on the lower surface of the SCCM shroud. The indicator should be flush with the shroud. If the indicator stands proud of the shroud, the keystones are NOT fully engaged. Carefully slide the SCCM slightly up and down, or rotate it slightly right and left as necessary for the keystones to snap into their slots and the indicator to become flush with the shroud. NOTE: The service length of the instrument panel wire harness take out for the SCCM MUST be pulled back out of the SCCM shroud and secured to the instrument panel base trim. Failure to properly accomplish this task will result in unsatisfactory buzzes, squeaks or rattles during vehicle operation.
- Pull the gap hider bezel up and away from the instrument panel far enough to access and engage the retainer clip (2) of the service length of the instrument panel wire harness SCCM take out to the instrument panel base trim (1) on the right side of the steering column opening.
- Align and engage the snap clips that secure the molded hard plastic steering column gap hider bezel to the instrument panel.
- If a new SCCM is being installed, remove (break off) the red locking tab that secures the clockspring rotor to the clockspring case.
- Reinstall the steering wheel onto the upper steering column shaft. Be certain to align and insert the rotational lugs on the steering wheel hub into the slots in the hub of the clockspring. Also, the steering wheel fastener MUST be tightened to the proper torque specification to ensure proper clockspring and Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) operation. Refer to «WHEEL, STEERING, INSTALLATION»(ref-481398-S35406467142012062200000) .
- Reconnect the steering wheel wire harness connectors to the upper SCCM connector receptacles.
- Reinstall the driver airbag onto the steering wheel. Refer to «AIR BAG, DRIVER, INSTALLATION»(ref-481435-S07748561002012062200000) .
- Reconnect the battery negative cable.

The Telematics Gateway Module (TGM) is located behind the switch bank assembly in the center of the instrument panel.
If repair or replacement of the TGM is required, the radio will require a four digit code for it to function.
There are two different levels of the TGM which are
- Base - includes CD player.
- Mid - includes CD/DVD player and SD card reader.

- Perform a complete backup of user data. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-481424-S41898467542012062200000) .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the instrument cluster bezel (2). Refer to «BEZEL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, REMOVAL»(ref-481397-S01329917622012062200000) .
- Remove the switch bank. Refer to «POD, SWITCH BANK, REMOVAL»(ref-481416-S37375466432012062200000) .
- Remove the Telematics Gateway Module (TGM) (2) retainers (1). CAUTION: Pulling the antenna cable straight out of the radio without pulling on the locking antenna connector could damage the cable or radio.
- Pull the TGM out far enough to access the harenss connectors.
- If equipped, disconnect the antenna(s) (1), RF HUB and UCI cables (4), video cable (3) and wiring connectors (2) from the TGM.
- Remove the TGM from the vehicle.

- Position the Telematics Gateway Module (TGM) close to the instrument panel to connect the electrical connectors.
- If equipped, connect the antenna(s) (1), RF HUB and UCI cables (4), video cable (3) and wiring connectors (2) to the TGM.
- Install the TGM (2) retainers (1).
- Install the switch bank. Refer to «POD, SWITCH BANK, INSTALLATION»(ref-481416-S22897540912012062200000) .
- Install the instrument cluster bezel. Refer to «BEZEL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, INSTALLATION»(ref-481397-S40031548282012062200000) .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Restore user data from backup. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-481424-S41898467542012062200000) .

The TCM is located under the left side of the instrument panel for left hand drive vehicles. For right hand drive vehicles, the TCM is located in the mirrored location under the right side of the instrument panel.
The electronic control system consists of various components providing inputs to the transmission control module (TCM). The TCM monitors transmission sensors, shift lever position, and bus messages to determine transmission shift strategy. After shift strategies are determined, the TCM controls the actuation of transmission solenoids, which controls the routing of hydraulic fluid within the transmission, by moving a sequence of four valves to make a shift occur.
The NAG1 electronic transmission has a fully adaptive control system. The system performs its functions based on continuous real-time sensor feedback information. In addition the TCM receives information from the PCM (engine management) and ABS (chassis systems) controllers over the CAN bus. The CAN bus is a high-speed communication bus that allows real time control capability between various controllers. Most messages are sent every 20 milliseconds. This means critical information can be shared between the transmission, engine, and ABS controllers. The CAN bus is a two wire bus with a CAN Bus (+) circuit and a CAN Bus (-) circuit. These circuits are twisted pairs in the harness to reduce the potential of radio and noise interference.
The transmission control system automatically adapts to changes in engine performance, vehicle speed, and transmission temperature variations to provide consistent shift quality. The control system ensures that clutch operation during up-shifting and downshifting is more responsive without increased harshness. The TCM activates the solenoid valves and moves valves in the valve body to achieve the necessary gear changes. The required pressure level is calculated from the load condition, engine speed. Vehicle speed (from ABS module) and transmission oil temperature, matched to the torque to be transmitted. The TCM is located under the left side of the instrument panel for left hand drive vehicles. For right hand drive vehicles, the TCM is located in the mirrored location under the right side of the instrument panel.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the instrument cluster bezel (2). Refer to «BEZEL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, REMOVAL»(ref-481397-S01329917622012062200000) .
- Reach through the Integrated Center Stack (ICS) screen opening and disconnect the Keyless Ignition Node (KIN) electrical connector.
- Press on the three tabs (two on top and one on bottom) and push the KIN out the front of the instrument panel.

- Push the Keyless Ignition Node (KIN) into the instrument panel until it snaps into place.
- Reach through the Integrated Center Stack (ICS) screen opening and connect the KIN electrical connector.
- Install the instrument cluster bezel (2). Refer to «BEZEL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, INSTALLATION»(ref-481397-S40031548282012062200000) .
- Connect the negative battery cable.

The adaptive speed control sensor (1) (also known as the Adaptive Cruise Control/ACC sensor or module, or the radar sensor or module) is located on a bracket secured near the right frame rail below the front bumper support member of the Front End Module (FEM) behind the front fascia. The stamped steel ACC sensor mounting bracket is secured by two screws to rivet nuts installed in the face of the bumper support member. This sensor is also the primary component of the Forward Collision Warning (FCW) feature of the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC).
One fixed ball stud (4) and two adjustable ball studs (3) secure the sensor housing through a snap fit into three molded plastic ball socket clips installed in the mounting bracket. The sensor pivots on the fixed ball stud while the two adjustable ball studs allow the sensor to be vertically aligned after installation using an ACC vertical alignment special tool and a 3.5 millimeter hex nut driver special tool. Horizontal alignment is performed electronically using a diagnostic scan tool during a ten minute drive at a steady, predetermined speed following completion of the vertical alignment.
The ACC sensor electronic circuitry is sealed and protected within a die cast aluminum housing. A molded plastic cover and a lens or radar dome (5) faces forward through an opening in the center of the front fascia lower airflow grille texture that is trimmed with a bezel snapped into the texture opening. A molded plastic sensor bezel or mirror cover with a center clearance hole for the sensor lens snaps over the sensor and conceals a small square mirror in one corner of the sensor cover that is used for calibration purposes during the sensor manufacturing process.
The ACC sensor includes an applied connector receptacle (2) that is sealed and secured to the sensor housing with screws and faces downward when installed on the mounting bracket. The ACC sensor is connected to the vehicle electrical system through a single dedicated takeout and connector of the FEM wire harness.
The adjustable ball studs and the ACC sensor cannot be repaired. If ineffective or damaged the entire sensor unit must be replaced. The three plastic ball socket clips in the sensor mounting bracket must also be replaced each time the ACC sensor is removed from and reinstalled onto the mounting bracket.
