Scheme 311: C1456-AWD CLUTCH POWER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article .

  1. VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Is the DTC active at this time? Yes Go To 2 . No Go To 7 .
  2. TRANSFER CASE MOTOR (AWD) OPERATION Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Transfer Case Motor (AWD) C1 harness connector. Ignition on, engine not running. Using a 12-volt test light, jump across from the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit and the (T316) Shift Control Motor B circuit at the Transfer Case Motor C1 harness connector. With the scan tool, actuate the Transfer Case Motor (AWD). Does the test light illuminate brightly when flashing on and off? Yes Go To 6 . No Go To 3 .
  3. (T316) SHIFT CONTROL MOTOR B CIRCUIT OPEN Measure the resistance of the (T316) Shift Control Motor B circuit between the Transfer Case Motor (AWD) C1 harness connector and the DTCM harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Go To 4 . No Repair the open in the (T316) Shift Control Motor B circuit. Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE - DTCM VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-481474-S25904731152012062200000) .
  4. (T315) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT OPEN Measure the resistance of the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit between the Transfer Case Motor (AWD) C1 harness connector and the DTCM harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Go To 5 . No Repair the open in the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit. Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE - DTCM VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-481474-S25904731152012062200000) .
  5. DRIVE TRAIN CONTROL MODULE (DTCM) NOTE: Before continuing, check the DTCM harness connector terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary. Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits. Were there any problems found? Yes Repair as necessary. Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE - DTCM VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-481474-S25904731152012062200000) . No Replace the Drive Train Control Module (DTCM) in accordance with Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, DRIVETRAIN CONTROL, REMOVAL»(ref-481399-S27639586382012062200000) . Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE - DTCM VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-481474-S25904731152012062200000) .
  6. TRANSFER CASE MOTOR (AWD) NOTE: Before continuing, check the Transfer Case Motor jumper harness connector terminals for corrosion, damage or terminals push out, repair/replace as necessary. Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits. Were there any problems found? Yes Repair as necessary. Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE - DTCM VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-481474-S25904731152012062200000) . No Replace Transfer Case Clutch Coil in accordance with Service Information. Refer to «COIL, CLUTCH, REMOVAL»(ref-481461-S22741463262012062200000) . Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST.   7. INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring harness and connectors specific to this circuit. Wiggle test the wiring harness and connectors while checking for shorted and open circuits. Using the scan tool, monitor the data related to this circuit while performing the wiggle test. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset. Were there any problems found? Scheme 312: C1464-FRONT AXLE DISCONNECT CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW

  1. VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Is the DTC active at this time? Yes Go To 2 . No Go To 4 .
  2. (F348) DRIVE TRAIN CONTROL RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Remove the FAD Relay. Disconnect the DTCM harness connector. Connect a jumper wire between the (F348) Drive Train Control Relay Control circuit and ground. Ignition on, engine not running. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (F348) Drive Train Control Relay Control circuit. NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery. Does the test light illuminate brightly? Yes Go To 3 . No Repair the (F348) Drive Train Control Relay Control circuit for an open or high resistance. Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE - DTCM VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-481474-S25904731152012062200000) .
  3. DRIVE TRAIN CONTROL MODULE (DTCM) Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect all wiring and connectors that pertain to this circuit. Were any problems found? Yes Repair as necessary. Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE - DTCM VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-481474-S25904731152012062200000) . No Replace the Drive Train Control Module (DTCM) in accordance with Service Information. Refer to «MODULE, DRIVETRAIN CONTROL, REMOVAL»(ref-481399-S27639586382012062200000) .   1. CHARGING SYSTEM DTCS PRESENT Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, read DTCs in the PCM. Are there any Charging System or related voltage DTCs present? Yes Perform the appropriate charging system or battery diagnostic procedure. Refer to «CHARGING SYSTEM - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(ref-481437-S26423230732012062200000) . No Go To 2 .
  2. DTC IS ACTIVE With the scan tool, read DTCs DTCM. Is the status Active for this DTC? Yes Replace the Drive Train Control Module (DTCM) in accordance with the Service information. Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE - DTCM VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-481474-S25904731152012062200000) . No Go To 3 .
  3. INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, wiggle test the wiring and connectors. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test.
