Removing
NoteAfter switching off the ignition: wait 15 minutes before disconnecting the battery, to ensure that the initialisations of the various ECUs are memorised
Disconnect the battery
Put the vehicle on a hoist
Crankshaft seal ring (timing side)
Remove
- The front right wheel
- The engine cover
- The protective panel under the engine
- The front right mud guard
- The auxiliary equipment drive belt
- The timing belt
Remove the crankshaft pinion (timing gear side)
Remove the crankshaft seal (1)
Crankshaft seal ring (flywheel side)
Remove
- The gearbox
- The clutch mechanism
Fit the tool [3]
NoteTo place the tool [3] line up a blind hole in the engine flywheel with the tool [3]
Remove
- The screws (3) of the engine flywheel
- The flywheel (2)
- The tool [3]
Remove the crankshaft seal (4)
Refitting
Crankshaft seal ring (timing side)
Place the tool [1b] on tool [1a]
Fit: the sealing ring (1) (new); on the tool [1a]
Remove the tool [1b]
WarningWhen fitting, oil the lip of the tool, but do not oil the outer face of the seal (1)
Fit the new sealing ring (1) using the tool [1a] (on cylinder block)
Refit
- The timing belt
- The auxiliary equipment drive belt
- The protective panel under the engine
- The front right mud guard
- The front right wheel
- The engine cover
Crankshaft seal ring (flywheel side)
Place the tool [2b] on tool [2a]
Fit: the sealing ring (4) (new); on the tool [2a]
Remove the tool [2b]
WarningWhen fitting, oil the lip of the tool, but do not oil the outer face of the seal (4)
Fit the new sealing ring (4) using the tool [2a] (on cylinder block)
WarningThe screw holes (3) must be cleaned before refitting the screws (3)
WarningClean the contact surfaces between the crankshaft and the engine flywheel
Fit
- The flywheel (2)
- New bolts (3)
Fit the tool [3]
WarningProceed bolt by bolt in the order shown. bring the screws (3) into contact with the flywheel (2)
Tighten to the specified torque (in the order indicated): engine tightening torques
Refit
- The clutch mechanism
- The gearbox
WarningAdhere to the tightening torques
WarningAdhere to the tightening torques
Fit the wheels
Reconnect the battery
WarningPerform the operations to be carried out following reconnection of the battery (see the relevant operation)
