Function: ignition system (EW7J4) Citroen C5 I

Power unit ~270 words

Application

Engines

  • TU
  • EW

Injection system: SAGEM S2000 PM1

Flow chart

"A" assembly: EW engine

"B" assembly: TU engine

(1) engine speed sensor (1313)

(2) (1320) injection ECU

(3) ignition coil unit (1135)

(4) camshaft position sensor (1115)

(5) ignition coil unit with phase detector (1191)

Compact coil housing (1135)

Application: EW engine

The coils are attached to a compact box located and fastened on the cylinder head

"double computer-coil" ignition: 2 sparks occur, one at the end of the compression stroke, the other during the exhaust phase (wasted spark)

Ignition coil unit with phase detector (1135)

Application: TU engine

The coils are attached to a compact box located and fastened on the cylinder head

"double computer-coil" ignition: 2 sparks occur, one at the end of the compression stroke, the other during the exhaust phase (wasted spark)

A system incorporated in the compact coil unit permits the injection ECU to detect the position of piston No. 1

NoteThis system replaces the camshaft position sensor

Sparking plugs

Special features

  • Flat seat ignition plugs
  • Tightening torque: 2,5 daNm

Injection ECU (1320)

The coil command and power stages are incorporated into the ECU (there is no external ignition module)

The ECU supplies each of the 2 coil primaries

EW engine

The synchronisation of ignition is achieved by the sensor of the N°1 reference cylinder (camshaft position sensor (1115))

TU engine

The synchronisation of ignition is achieved by the phase detector incorporated in the compact coil unit

On board diagnostic system (EOBD)

NoteEOBD: European On Board Diagnosis, diagnosis of anti-pollution equipment
