Connecting rod bearing shells
There is only one class of conrod bearing shells
| - | nominal dimension |
|---|---|
| distance "A" | 1,817 ± 0,003 mm |
Half-shells on crankshaft bearing
The operating tolerance of the crankshaft bearings is obtained by the creation of several categories of half-shells (see table below)
- 1 categories of upper half-shells (cylinder block side)
- 3 categories of lower half-shells (crankshaft bearing cap casing side)
| cylinder block shells | bearing cap shells | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| nominal dimension | 1,858 ± 0,003 mm | 1,844 ± 0,003 mm | 1,858 ± 0,003 mm | 1,869 ± 0,003 mm |
| repair size | 2,008 ± 0,003 mm | 1,994 ± 0,003 mm | 2,008 ± 0,003 mm | 2,019 ± 0,003 mm |
| class | B | A | B | C |
| colour identification | black | blue | black | Green |
The classes of crankshaft bearing shells are marked on the engine block and on the crankshaft (timing end) at "a"
"b" bar code: used in production
The first character corresponds to bearing No. 1, the second to bearing No. 2, and so on
NoteThe crankshaft bearings are marked from 1 to 5, No. 1 at flywheel end
Class (A) blue
Class (B) black
Class (C) Green
Example
- First letter of the crankshaft "S" and first letter of the cylinder block "E"
- On the main bearing cap side: the half bearing shell N°1 must be of class "A" (blue)
- Cylinder block side: the bearing shell is always class "B" (black colour)
WarningEnsure that the half bearing shells are positioned correctly
Fitting to the bearing caps of the cylinder block and of the bearing carrier
- Plain shell bearings: fitted to bearing N°1 - 3 - 5
- Grooved half shells: fitted to bearing N°2 - 4
Crankshaft end float
The crankshaft lateral clearance is adjusted by means of thrust washers on bearing No. 2
The crankshaft lateral play is between 0,07 and 0,27 mm
Half-thrust washer
Nominal dimension: B = 2,40 mm
Repair size: B1 = 2,50 mm
Repair size: B2 = 2,55 mm
Repair size: B3 = 2,60 mm
