Speaker Replacement Reference

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the right instrument panel (I/P) trim panel. Refer to «Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Right»(ref-187800-S24060335362005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  2. Remove the left I/P trim panel. Refer to «Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Left»(ref-187800-S04287456392005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Remove the center I/P trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Center»(ref-187800-S15886167422005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  4. Remove the fasteners securing the radio to the I/P.
  5. Partially remove the radio from the I/P.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  7. Disconnect the radio antenna coax cable.
  8. Remove the radio.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the radio antenna coax cable.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors.
  3. Position the radio onto the I/P. NOTE: Refer to «Fastener Notice»(ref-187803-S24261752242005090100000) in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the fasteners securing the radio to the I/P. Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  5. Remove the center I/P trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Center»(ref-187800-S15886167422005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  6. Remove the left I/P trim panel. Refer to «Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Left»(ref-187800-S04287456392005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  7. Remove the right I/P trim panel. Refer to «Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Right»(ref-187800-S24060335362005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  1. Cycle the folding top to reveal the body rear accessory compartment.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Loosen the nuts and remove the lid from the body accessory compartment.
  4. Remove the folding top control module. Refer to «Folding Top Control Module Replacement»(ref-187805-S17492571022005090100000) in Roof.
  5. Remove the rear relay center. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-187796-S41544491772005090100000) in Wiring Systems.
  6. Remove the daytime running lamps (DRL) diode. Refer to «Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Diode Replacement»(ref-187799-S10462183732005090100000) in Lighting Systems.
  7. Remove the 4 fasteners retaining the intermediate bracket.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the amplifier (3).
  9. Remove the 4 fasteners (1, 2) retaining the amplifier to the body rear accessory compartment.
  10. Remove the amplifier from the vehicle.
  1. Connect the electrical connectors (3) to the amplifier.
  2. Install the 4 fasteners (1, 2) that hold the amplifier to the bin. Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  3. Install the 4 fasteners retaining the intermediate bracket. Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  4. Install the folding top control module. Refer to «Folding Top Control Module Replacement»(ref-187805-S17492571022005090100000) in Roof.
  5. Install the rear relay center. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-187796-S41544491772005090100000) in Wiring Systems.
  6. Install the DRL diode. Refer to «Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Diode Replacement»(ref-187799-S10462183732005090100000) in Lighting Systems.
  7. Install the lid to the body accessory compartment. Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
  8. Close the folding top.
  1. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Left»(ref-187800-S42829230862005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  2. Remove the right knee bolster. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Right»(ref-187800-S14545293402005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  4. Remove the screws securing the microphone to the knee bolster.
  5. Remove the microphone.

  1. Locate the microphone to the knee bolster. NOTE: Refer to «Fastener Notice»(ref-187803-S24261752242005090100000) in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the screws securing the microphone to the knee bolster. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  3. Connect the electrical connector.
  4. Install the right knee bolster. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Right»(ref-187800-S14545293402005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  5. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Left»(ref-187800-S42829230862005090100000) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  1. Remove the windshield garnish molding. Refer to «Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement»(ref-187806-S28933343462005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  2. Remove the bolt securing the antenna module to the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the coax cable.
  4. Disconnect the connector at the windshield.
  1. Connect the connector at the windshield.
  2. Connect the coax cable.
  3. Install the bolt securing the antenna module to the vehicle. Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  4. Install the windshield garnish molding. Refer to «Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement»(ref-187806-S28933343462005090100000) in Interior Trim.

  1. Remove the right hinge pillar trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar»(ref-187806-S22116607002005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  2. Remove the windshield pillar trim panel. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar»(ref-187806-S23300176672005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  3. Disconnect the coax cable connector.
  4. Remove the upper windshield garnish molding. Refer to «Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement»(ref-187806-S28933343462005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  5. Disconnect the coax cable from the antenna module.
  6. Remove the coax cable.
  1. Install the coax cable.
  2. Connect the coax cable to the antenna module.
  3. Install the upper windshield garnish. Refer to «Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement»(ref-187806-S28933343462005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  4. Connect the coax cable connector.
  5. Install the windshield pillar trim panel. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar»(ref-187806-S23300176672005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  6. Install the right hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar»(ref-187806-S22116607002005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Door»(ref-187807-S38707060192005090100000) in Doors.
  2. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (1) for the connector.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
  4. Remove the fasteners securing the speaker to the door.
  1. Position the speaker onto the door.
  2. Install the fasteners securing the speaker to the door. Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  3. Connect the electrical connector (1).
  4. Install the CPA (1) for the connector.
  5. Install the door trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Door»(ref-187807-S38707060192005090100000) in Doors.
  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Door»(ref-187807-S38707060192005090100000) in Doors.
  2. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) for the connector.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  4. Remove the fasteners securing the speaker to the door (1).
  5. Remove the speaker.
  1. Position the speaker onto the door.
  2. Install the fasteners securing the speaker to the door (1). Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  3. Connect the electrical connector.
  4. Install the CPA for the connector.
  5. Install the door trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Door»(ref-187807-S38707060192005090100000) in Doors.
  1. Remove the upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(ref-187806-S19110670052005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  2. Remove the lock pillar trim. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Lock Pillar»(ref-187806-S37481364122005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  3. Remove the seat back bumper. Refer to «Bumper Replacement - Front Seat Back Cushion»(ref-187806-S29502702542005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  4. Fold the carpet forward to access the speaker fasteners.
  5. Remove the speaker fasteners.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  1. Connect the electrical connector.
  2. Install the speaker fasteners. Tighten: Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  3. Install the carpet.
  4. Install the seat back bumper. Refer to «Bumper Replacement - Front Seat Back Cushion»(ref-187806-S29502702542005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  5. Install the lock pillar trim. Refer to «7Trim Replacement - Lock Pillar»(ref-187806-S37481364122005090100000) in Interior Trim.
  6. Install the upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Upper»(ref-187806-S19110670052005090100000) in Interior Trim.
