22 11 001 Replacing Right Engine Mount (N62TU)

Necessary preliminary tasks

  1. Disconnect Battery . See «12 00... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/horns/#general-electrical-system-repair__12-00-instructions-for-disconnecting-and) .
  2. Secure engine in installation posit
  3. Remove reinforcement plate . See «31 10 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REINFORCEMENT PLATE»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/axle-shafts/#front-axle-repair__31-10-010-removing-and-installingreplacing) .
  4. Drain off engine oil
  5. Remove heat shields.
  6. Remove Starter Motor . See «41 STARTER WITH MOUNTING»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#engine-electrical-system-repair-n52) .
  7. Remove «Engine Support Arm»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/mechanical/#engine-and-gearbox-suspension-repair-n62__22-11-100-replacing-right-engine)

Release screws (1) and remove engine mount (2). Tightening torque 22 11 1AZ, see EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Installation

Holes (1) in engine mount must point to middle of vehicle.

22 11 011 Replacing Left Engine Mount (N62TU)

Necessary preliminary tasks

  1. Disconnect battery . See «12 00... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/horns/#general-electrical-system-repair__12-00-instructions-for-disconnecting-and) .
  2. Secure engine in installation position.
  3. Remove reinforcement plate . See «31 10 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REINFORCEMENT PLATE»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/axle-shafts/#front-axle-repair__31-10-010-removing-and-installingreplacing) .
  4. Remove «engine support arm»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/mechanical/#engine-and-gearbox-suspension-repair-n62__22-11-110-replacing-left-engine) .

Release screws (1) and remove engine mount (2). Tightening torque 22 11 1AZ, see EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Installation

Holes (1) in engine mount must point to middle of vehicle. (Scheme 801)

22 11 100 Replacing Right Engine Support Arm (N62TU)

Necessary preliminary tasks

  1. Disconnect battery . See «12 00... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/horns/#general-electrical-system-repair__12-00-instructions-for-disconnecting-and) .
  2. Secure engine in installation position
  3. Remove reinforcement plate . See «31 10 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REINFORCEMENT PLATE»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/axle-shafts/#front-axle-repair__31-10-010-removing-and-installingreplacing) .
  4. Drain off engine oil
  5. Remove heat shields
  6. Remove oil dipstick guide tube
  7. Remove starter motor. See «41 STARTER WITH MOUNTING»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#engine-electrical-system-repair-n52) .
  8. Remove right steering cover.

Release screws and engine support arm.

Tightening torque 22 11 3AZ, see EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

22 11 110 Replacing Left Engine Support Arm (N62TU)

  1. Disconnect battery . See «12 00... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/horns/#general-electrical-system-repair__12-00-instructions-for-disconnecting-and) .
  2. Secure engine in installation position
  3. Remove reinforcement plate . See «31 10 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REINFORCEMENT PLATE»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/axle-shafts/#front-axle-repair__31-10-010-removing-and-installingreplacing) .
  4. Drain off engine oil
  5. Remove heat shields
  6. Remove front differential . See «31 50 001 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT DIFFERENTIAL»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/axle-shafts/#front-axle-repair__31-50-001-removing-and-installingreplacing) .

Release screws (1) and (2) and remove engine support arm. Tightening torque 22 11 3AZ, see EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

22 32 001 Replacing Rubber Mount For Transmission Mounting

Special Tools Required

  1. 22 1 016
  2. 22 1 017
  3. 22 1 101
  4. 22 1 102
  5. 22 1 103
  6. 33 4 465

Necessary preliminary tasks

  1. Remove crossmember for transmission mount.

Place special tool 22 1 016 on opening (1) and insert screw (2) until hand-tight against housing. Pull out rubber mount with special tools 22 1 101 / 33 4 465 and nut (22 1 017).

Installation : Arrow on rubber mount must point to arrow on housing. Coat housing bore and rubber mount with Circolight.

Insert special tool 22 1 102 with pins into openings of rubber mount.

Install rubber mount with special tools 22 1 102 / 22 1 103 / 33 4 465 and 22 1 017.

22 32 050 Replacing Cross-Member For Transmission Mounting

Special Tools Required

  1. 00 2 030
  2. 23 0 132
  3. 23 4 050 (Scheme 809)

Necessary preliminary tasks

  1. Remove underbody protection.
  2. Remove heat shields.
  3. Remove exhaust system. See «EXHAUST - REPAIR PROCEDURES - X5 (V8)»(/bmw/x5/e70-2006-2010/remont/exhaust/#exhaust-repair-n62) .

Supporting Transmission : Support with special tools 23 4 050, 23 0 132 and 00 2 030. Secure transmission with tensioning strap (1).

Release screws. Tightening torque 22 32 4AZ, see EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES . Release screw (1). Tightening torque 22 32 5AZ, see EXHAUST SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES . Remove cross-member.
