Removing Audi TT 8N

Removing

1. Switch ignition off.

1. Check whether a factory marking - arrows - is on flexible disc and Haldex clutch flange. If not, mark parts in relation to each other.

1. Remove rear drive shaft with flexible disc and vibration damper from rear final drive - arrows - and carefully press forward --> «Drive shaft, removing»(/audi/tt/8n-1998-2003/remont/differentials-drive-axles/#rear-final-drive-02d) .

Scheme 735

1. Disconnect connector for Haldex clutch pump - arrow 1 -.
2. Place oil drain pan underneath drive flange and remove drive flange.
3. Remove bolts - arrows 2 -.
4. Afterward, rotate pump slightly toward right.

1. Remove pump (direction of - arrow - ).

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following

1. If a seal - A - was present, it can be removed and does not need to be replaced. If necessary, seal pump with Sealing Paste AMV 188 001 02 .
2. Replace O-rings - B - and - C -.
3. Note different diameter

1. Diameter O-ring - B - = 31.5 mm
2. Diameter O-ring - C - = 33 mm

1. Press pump in as far as stop.
2. Tighten bolts - arrow 2 -.

Tightening torque: 6 Nm

1. Connect Haldex clutch pump connector - arrow 1 -.
2. Check oil level in Haldex clutch --> «Oil level in Haldex clutch, checking»(/audi/tt/8n-1998-2003/remont/differentials-drive-axles/#rear-final-drive-02d) .

1. Install drive shaft at flange of Haldex clutch so that the markings - arrows - align.

Drive shaft with balancing washers under mounting bolts - arrows

Note. Any balancing washers present - arrows - must not be installed but rather replaced with washers. (Scheme 738)

1. If balancing washers were installed, they must always be replaced with washers - A -.

Drive shaft with balancing nuts and balancing washers (gradual introduction from 01.03)

Note. Any balancing nuts - A - and balancing washers - B - present must be removed.

Note. If droning noises are audible while driving, do the following: Remove drive shaft with flexible disc from flange of Haldex clutch and bolt on again offset by one hole. If droning noises are still heard, drive shaft must be bolted on again, offset by one more hole.

1. Multimeter V.A.G 1526/A
2. Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B
3. Diagnostic cable, 3 m with power supply 3m VAS 5051/1 or Diagnostic cable, 5 m without power supply VAS 5051/3
4. Connector Test Set V.A.G 1594/C

Note. The testing steps only apply to vehicles through 04.99 that are not diagnostic capable, control module overview.
