MOTOR, ADAPTING

Note. The engine must be adapted after it is replaced or after the battery is disconnected. Proceed as follows for this.

Switch ignition on, all doors are closed.

Pull the motor operating switch down and hold it there during the entire adaptation procedure.

After about 10 seconds, the glass panel >>1<< will tilt and then close again.

The adaptation ends when the panel closes and the operating switch can be released.

LOCKING PIN FOR SUN SHADE

Note. Remove the locking pin before removing the sun shade from the guides.

Remove bolt -1- on the wind deflector -2- and remove the locking pin -3-.

Remove the sun shade from the guides towards the front.

Retracting spring threaded connection

Close the sun shade -3- completely toward the rear.

Remove the bolt -1- and carefully let the retracting spring retract into the brake -2-.

Note. Only replace the cables in pairs.

Remove the glass panel and move the roof into the >>closed<< position.

Remove the motor.

Remove the bolt -1- and slide the cable -3- back out of the guide.

Slide the new cables in and tighten the bolt to 4 Nm.

Note. Lower the headliner just a little but do not remove it. After the sunroof frame is removed, the water drain hose elbows must be replaced, refer to Water Drain Hose Angle Brackets, Replacing. Refer to WATER DRAIN HOSE ANGLE BRACKETS, REPLACING .

Scheme 14: SUNROOF FRAME
  1. Screws 8 Nm Quantity: 4 front and 4 rear
  2. Sunroof frame The glass panel is removed. lower the headliner. -- Remove the front and rear water drain hoses. -- Disconnect the electrical connectors to the motor. -- Remove the front and rear frame bolts except for the center bolts on the left and right. NOTE: The roof is only secured with these two threaded connections before lifting it. -- Remove the bolts to the frame at the front, center and rear angle brackets. -- Loosen the threaded connections to the body on the front and center angle brackets sufficiently. -- The rear angle bracket remains secured firmly to the body. -- Remove the front and center angle brackets from the frame. NOTE: Two assistants are now required to hold the roof before removing both bolts at the front and rear of the frame. -- Remove the front and rear bolts on the frame and carefully remove the rear brackets forward. -- Carefully lift the frame out of the vehicle. Install in reverse order of removal.
  3. Bolt 2.5 Nm
  4. Brake Lower to remove the headliner. Retracting spring brake On the sun shade, remove the retracting spring threaded connection on both sides and slide into the brake. -- Remove the bolts on the retracting spring from below and remove the retracting spring upward.
  5. Seal Self-adhesive -- Clean adhesive surface with Cleaning Solution -D 009 401 04-.
  6. Rear angle bracket

  9. Bolt 8 Nm
  10. Motor Removing NOTE: Only remove the motor when the glass panel is closed. Removal: -- Interior lights removed. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(ref-520145-S04777688542012123100000) . -- Disconnect the electrical connector to the motor. -- Remove the bolts and remove the motor downward from the headliner opening. NOTE: After installing, perform an adaptation procedure for the motor, refer to «MOTOR, ADAPTING»(ref-520209-S22258247942012123100000) .

Headliner lowered.

Retracting spring on sun shade removed.

Remove the bolt -1-, unclip the front side of the brake -2- from the frame and remove it downward.
