Lubrication system components, removing and installing

Note. If large quantities of metal shavings or abraded material are found in the engine oil while servicing the engine, the oil passages must be carefully cleaned to prevent resulting damage and the oil cooler must be replaced. The oil level must not be above the max. mark - danger of damage to catalytic converter!

Note. Before raising the vehicle on a hoist (wheels off the ground), first activate the vehicle jack mode --> 43 - SELF LEVELING SUSPENSION . Drained coolant must be stored in a clean container for disposal or reuse.

1. Open cap of coolant expansion tank.

For vehicles with parking/auxiliary heater

1. Remove bolts - arrows - for exhaust pipe of parking heater/auxiliary heater on noise insulation.

All

1. Loosen mounting parts - 1 - and remove noise insulation.
2. Place drip tray VAS 6208 under engine.

Scheme 61

1. Disconnect coolant hose - 1 - to drain coolant.
2. Open drain plug - 2 - at oil filter bracket and drain coolant from engine at right.

1. Open drain plug - arrows - and drain coolant from engine at left.
