ADDITIONAL ATF FILTER

CAUTIONBefore fitting a replacement transmission, always blow through ATF cooler and ATF lines with compressed air (not more than 10 bar) and replace additional ATF filter. If ATF comes out very dirty, ATF lines and ATF cooler must additionally be flushed out with clean ATF.

  1. Place drip tray beneath transmission. Remove union nuts (10 and 11), and disconnect both lines. (Scheme 156) Remove bolt (6).
  2. Remove line from cooler and remove "O" ring (5). Remove bolt (7). Remove line from cooler and remove "O" ring (8).
  3. To install, clean ATF lines and ATF cooler. See «ATF LINES & ATF COOLER FLUSHING»(/audi/a6/c5-2001-2004/remont/automatic-trans/#servicing-at-01j-cvt__atf-lines-atf-cooler-flushing) under LUBRICATION.
  4. Install NEW additional ATF filter. Install ATF lines by hand until impact. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(/audi/a6/c5-2001-2004/remont/automatic-trans/#servicing-at-01j-cvt__torque-specifications).
  5. Check ATF level and top off, if necessary. See «CHECKING FLUID LEVELS»(/audi/a6/c5-2001-2004/remont/automatic-trans/#servicing-at-01j-cvt__checking-fluid-levels) under LUBRICATION.

  1. Remove Radio-Navigation system. See «RADIO»(/audi/a6/c5-2001-2004/remont/automatic-trans/#servicing-at-01j-cvt).
  2. Remove bolts (A). (Scheme 157) Unlatch tabs (C and D). Lift A/C control head (B) up slightly and remove in direction of arrow.
  3. Press back harness connector release catches (F) and disconnect harness connectors (A-D). (Scheme 158) Press back harness connector releases catches (G) and disconnect harness connector (E).

  1. Remove Radio. See «RADIO»(/audi/a6/c5-2001-2004/remont/automatic-trans/#servicing-at-01j-cvt).
  2. Remove instrument panel center rim section. See «A/C CONTROL HEAD & RADIO TRIM SECTION»(/audi/a6/c5-2001-2004/remont/automatic-trans/#servicing-at-01j-cvt).
  3. After removing two lower screws (A), clips located in front of fastening straps on A/C Control Head should be tipped forward and removed using a screwdriver. (Scheme 159) Remove A/C control head (B).
  4. Press back harness connector release catches (F) and disconnect harness connectors (A-D). (Scheme 158) Press back harness connector releases catches (G) and disconnect harness connector (E).
