CAUTIONThe three center retaining channels -6- must be hooked over the backrest frame trim -4- and the backrest frame -2-.

Vehicles Equipped with a Mount for a DVD Player

  1. The guide mounts -1- and -3- on the backrest must free of contaminants.

Align the backrest cover and install the guides into the mounts.

  1. The guides -1- and -3- can be installed in only one position.
  2. The release buttons must face outside.

Install the trim -2-.

  1. The trim can be installed in only one position.

Note. Ignore the -arrow- in this reference.

Note. Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

Equipment Versions with Lumbar Support (not Comfort Seat)

Separate the upholstery from the Velcro fastener -3- on the lumbar support -2- otherwise the lumbar support will be damaged when removing the hooks -arrows-.

Remove the cover and cushion from the backrest frame while guiding the side airbag wiring harness.

Note. The spacer fabric must not be damaged. The heating elements -A- and -B- remain on the backrest bolsters and the new backrest heating element is bonded over them.

Align the new backrest heating element on the upholstery -1-.

CAUTIONMake sure the new backrest bolster heating elements are bonded so they line up with the old ones. Remove the protective films in the bonding sequence for the heating element area. When removing the protective film, make sure the heating element is not damaged and that it is attached without wrinkles.

Bond the individual areas of the heating element in the sequence -A-, -B-, -C- and -D-.

Route the connecting wires to the individual heating surfaces in the base of the gaps -arrows-.

Pull the wire -3- through the slit in the upholstery.

Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

BACKREST HEATING ELEMENT, SPORT SEAT

Removing and installing a standard front seat is described. The procedure is similar for a sport front seat.

Pry the retaining strip at the edge of the backrest cover out from around the guide on the backrest.

  1. In the bends, the grip channel is also secured by clips. Carefully remove the clips.

Pull out lower retaining strip -2- on module carrier -1-.

Align the new heating elements on the backrest surface.

CAUTIONMake sure the new backrest heating element is affixed to the old heating element. Remove the protective films in the bonding sequence for the heating element area. When removing the protective film, make sure the heating element is not damaged and that it is attached without wrinkles.

Remove the protective film and adhere new heating elements -1, 2, 3, 4- to the same positions as the old heating elements.

Run connecting wires -A- loosely to the upper backrest heating element along the bottom of the gaps.

Run the connecting wires loosely to the backrest bolsters along the bottom of the gaps.

Align the new heating elements on the seat surface.

CAUTIONMake sure the new seat heating element is affixed to the old heating element. Remove the protective films in the bonding sequence for the heating element area. When removing the protective film, make sure the heating element is not damaged and that it is attached without wrinkles.

Conduct the electrical connection wire down through the opening provided in the seat cushion.

Remove the protective film and adhere new heating elements -1, 2, 3, 4, 6- to the same positions as the old heating elements.

Run connecting wires -A- loosely to the seat bolsters along the bottom of the gaps.

Remove cover with upholstery. Refer to BENCH SEAT WITH CENTER STORAGE COMPARTMENT, COVER AND PADDING .

Remove the cover -1- from the upholstery -3- as far as possible.

Unclip retaining channel -4- from clips -2-.

Remove cover from cushion.

Disengage the molding -1- all around the seat frame -2-.

Remove the cover with upholstery -3- and -4- from the seat frame -2-.

Remove the seat bench. Refer to BENCH SEAT .

Remove the backrest. Refer to BACKREST .

Split backrest right 2/3 with storage compartment or cover

Remove the center armrest. Refer to CENTER ARMREST .

Remove the retainer trim. Refer to

Unclip the plugs -2-.

Pry the upper retaining channel -1- out of the backrest shell -3-.

Remove the molding -2- from the sides and bottom of the backrest shell -3-.

Split Backrest Right 2/3 with Storage Compartment or Cover

Pry the molding -2- out of the tabs -arrow- on the backrest shell -1-.

Continuation for Left and Right Backrest

Pry the cover over the inner bracket.

Pry the cover over the outer bracket.

Guide the release cable with the connector station through the slit in the cover.

Remove the cover with upholstery from the backrest shell.

Remove the upper and lower upholstery from the backrest shell.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install headrest guide with button at left.

Make sure the button -2- moves easily after installing the trim.

HEADREST COVER

CAUTIONIt is only possible to replace the cover on the headrest with a leather cover. It is not possible to replace a fabric headrest cover because the cover is filled with foam and also serves as the casing for the upholstery. The headrest support is built into the upholstery. Both components are attached to each other and cannot be separated.

Remove the headrests. Refer to HEADREST .

Press the sides of the upholstery away from the trim -1- in the direction of the -arrow-.

Bend the leg spring -2- up slightly using a wide screwdriver.

Pull the trim -1- up at one side at the same time until it disengages on one side.

Perform the same step on the other side.

Remove the trim -1- while bending the leg spring -2- up.

Open the locking channel -1- and -2-.

Remove the cover -3- from the support with the upholstery.

Install cover -1-.

Position the cover -1- and slide it over the support with upholstery -2-.

Pull the left and right corners of the cover -arrow- over the support with upholstery -2-.

Pull the cover so it is smooth.

Engage the locking channel -1-.

Bend the leg spring -2- up while sliding the trim -1- on.

Hold the leg spring -2- open until the trim -1- slides over the notches into the locked position.

Press the trim -1- on firmly until it engages.

Align the cover -3- and pull it so it is smooth.

Make sure the cover lies on the upholstery without any wrinkles and without seam markings.

Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

Remove the headrests. Refer to HEADREST .

Remove trim. Refer to TRIM .

Remove the leg spring -2- from the trim support -1-.

Install in reverse order of removal.

Remove the cover and upholstery from the bench seat. Refer to

Cut electrical wire -3- off directly at old seat heating element -2-.

Note. The old seat heating element remains on the upholstery -1- and the new seat heating element is bonded over it. Ignore -arrows A through E- in this reference.

Align the new heating element on upholstery.

CAUTIONMake sure the new seat heating element is affixed to the old heating element. Remove the protective films in the bonding sequence for the heating element area. When removing the protective film, make sure the heating element is not damaged and that it is attached without wrinkles.

Begin bonding the center are of the seat heating element -arrow C-.

Then bond the front area -arrow A-.

Route the connecting wires from the front to the rear heating surface in the base of the gaps -arrow B-.

Bond the rear area of the heating surface -arrow D-.

Pull the wire -3- through the slit in the upholstery -arrow E-.

Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

Remove the headrests. Refer to HEADREST .

Press the sides of the upholstery away from the trim -1- in the direction of the -arrow-.

Bend the leg spring -2- up slightly using a wide screwdriver.

Pull the trim -1- up at one side at the same time until it disengages on one side.

Perform the same step on the other side.

Remove the trim -1- while bending the leg spring -2- up.
